00:00 For Bama Central.com, we are here live from Bryant-Denny Stadium.
00:03 I am Blake Beiler, joined by Edwin Stanton and Austin Hannon.
00:07 We just witnessed number four Alabama's 56-7 season opening win over Middle Tennessee State.
00:13 So we're going to start with Austin, because you've kind of been following the quarterback
00:17 situation, writing a story on that this week.
00:20 What did you kind of see from Jaylen Milrow, who got the start, and then also from Tyler
00:24 Bumgarner and Ty Simpson, and really just the offense as a whole?
00:26 Yeah, well to start, I thought it was a little, I don't know what we were really expecting
00:30 in terms of a plan for the quarterbacks.
00:32 Some teams do it a certain way, some teams don't.
00:35 It kind of just felt like he was saying it's Jaylen Milrow's job, right?
00:37 He put him out there like he was the starter, he played like he was the starter, and he
00:41 went for most of the game.
00:42 So I think that was the first thing that was a little different that I didn't know if they
00:45 were going to do it that way.
00:46 I think I was thinking it was going to be more of Milrow plays the beginning of the
00:50 game and kind of see where it goes, and then everybody else gets a chance.
00:53 It was really just like what we kind of saw last year in the open season, Bryce Young
00:57 goes in, does all that, backup duty, and just to hand the ball off, really.
01:01 So that kind of said a lot about where this quarterback battle is, and not just that,
01:05 but the play on the field.
01:06 I mean, Milrow was great, he threw the ball really well, which he had done very well last
01:11 year.
01:12 He ran the ball really well, which we knew he could do, especially that fumble play that
01:15 turned into a touchdown.
01:17 So he brings a lot of stuff to the offense that obviously the other guys don't have.
01:20 And if he could pass like that, Alabama is going to be a team that can sit for a national
01:24 championship this year.
01:25 Absolutely.
01:26 And Edmund, to kind of talk about the defense, almost pitched a shutout, didn't give up a
01:29 touchdown until the second half.
01:30 I think the team had three sacks at interception.
01:33 What did you see from the defense?
01:34 What do you think they can build on to the score?
01:37 I was really impressed with the aggressiveness.
01:39 They came right out, they didn't make any bugs about it, they weren't going to be aggressive,
01:43 and that's what they did.
01:44 Came out and got a lot of quarterback hurries, I think like six or seven quarterback hurries.
01:48 They got two turnovers, Jadon Key had a big interception.
01:52 Of course, the problem now is Jadon left the game with an injury, along with Malakai Moore.
01:57 That kind of left him with an alertion in the secondary, that's where Middle Tennessee
02:02 got that touchdown with those replacements.
02:07 But we'll know more about them tomorrow or the next day.
02:11 But overall, I'm really impressed with the defense.
02:13 Really aggressive, a lot of good solid tackling, a lot of missed tackles.
02:17 So yeah, there's a lot to be inspired about this defense.
02:21 Absolutely, definitely a positive performance on both sides of the ball.
02:25 There's a big week coming up, number 11 Texas is going to be here at Brighton-Denny Stadium
02:29 next week.
02:30 So until then, we'll be here and we'll see you guys next week.
02:34 Thank you all for watching.
