00:00 Noisy stag parties dropping litter and releasing bodily fluids on the streets.
00:06 This is an average weekend on the streets of the so-called party district of Budapest.
00:11 But local resident Sándor Siksály says it was originally a residential area with schools,
00:17 doctors, offices and people living their lives.
00:20 And his children have been unable to sleep with the noise and anti-social behavior.
00:25 "When you take your children to the kindergarten, it's one thing to get them to a place where
00:30 there is a lot of noise and water, but it's another thing to get them to accept that,
00:35 for example, their parents have used cotton to make their bed, or there was a case in
00:40 the kindergarten where a tourist from Részeg went in and laid down in the kindergarten."
00:48 Many people can't afford to move away because they live in city-owned flats or are too old.
00:53 But the mayor hopes to introduce more cultural events to attract more responsible crowds and
00:58 to inform tourists when they arrive.
01:01 "We will distribute flyers in the airport, and we are already distributing them, so that
01:06 people will be aware that they are facing very serious penalties if they are in public areas,
01:13 if they are not behaving in a respectful manner, if they are wearing garbage, if they are wearing
01:18 a mask, if they are wearing a mask, if they are wearing a mask, if they are wearing a mask.
01:23 Yes, there is preparation for such small films that will tell people what not to do."
01:29 As the municipality is under finance, the local restaurant and nightclub owners have set up
01:34 a fund to help them out.
01:36 They clean the streets after closing time, and they pay for security personnel who are
01:41 patrolling with the official guards of the local council.
01:45 "The so-called 'Bully Square' is just 8 streets away from Zsébet.
01:51 On a busy day, 25-30 thousand people can come here.
01:56 Tourists want to have fun, and residents want peace and quiet.
02:00 The mayor says authorities could help them more, and the guests would obviously like to
02:05 attract as many guests as possible.
02:09 Everyone has a right to their own space, and no one is happy without it.
02:14 One thing is for sure, the problems of Erzsébet will not be solved by good initiatives
02:19 from one day to the next.
