00:00 Britain's busiest railway stations with the highest rates of cancelled trains this year
00:04 have been revealed. Analysis of national rail data has shown that almost half of the trains
00:09 that ran across Britain in 2023 were at least one minute late. It also showed that as of
00:14 July 31st, Huddersfield had more than 5,500 scheduled trains cancelled. It showed that
00:20 of the 100 busiest railway stations, Manchester Victoria had the second highest cancellation
00:25 rate at 10%. York, Newcastle and Manchester Oxford Road all followed at 9%. The government
00:30 said operators needed to deliver punctual services and improve delays and cancellations.
00:36 The analysis data of over 2,500 stations suggests that 56% of trains in Great Britain were cancelled
00:42 and that overall stations in Wales had the highest cancellation rate at 7%. Paul Toohey,
00:48 Chief Executive Officer of the charity Campaign for Better Transport, said "We want people
00:53 to travel by train so high rates of cancellations are unacceptable.
