00:19 We are here in Jakarta, Indonesia for the opening ceremony of the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
00:26 As you can see behind me, this is the entrance of the media center,
00:30 where the speakers from other countries will be able to enter to offer important speeches.
00:37 Not only the leaders of the 10 ASEAN Member States, but also the dialogue partners.
00:42 China, India, South Korea, Australia, America, and Canada.
00:47 In the next three days, there will be 13 summits led by President Bambang Marcos.
00:53 The ASEAN Member States, ASEAN and their dialogue partners will lead the summit.
00:58 This is one of the most anticipated ASEAN-China Summit,
01:01 where the issues in the South China Sea will be discussed,
01:04 and the issues that are being addressed and not finished yet in the Code of Conduct for the region.
01:08 This summit will be held during the rising tensions between not only the Philippines and China,
01:13 but also other countries like Indonesia and Vietnam,
01:18 and even India, because of the 10-line map of China.
01:23 Aside from what the President said yesterday in his departure speech,
01:26 that he will support a rules-based international order in the South China Sea,
01:30 the Department of Foreign Affairs said that the President expects to try to include the Philippines
01:36 in the joint statement of ASEAN at the end of the summit on Thursday,
01:40 regarding China's aggressive action in the region.
01:44 Aside from that, there are also important partners like ASEAN-US, ASEAN-India, ASEAN-Indo-Pacific,
01:50 ASEAN-East Asia, where the cooperation in food security is also discussed,
01:55 which is one of the important partners for many countries.
01:59 Climate change, digital economy, human trafficking, and the protection of the well-being of Filipinos abroad
02:05 are some of the things that the President expects to support.
