00:03 - Welcome to the first meeting of the new Shadow Cabinet,
00:10 and it's really fantastic to see you all here.
00:13 I want to start by stressing just how important
00:16 and crucial the next stage of our journey is going to be.
00:19 I reshuffled and formed this new team yesterday
00:22 with all that in mind, and you around this table,
00:26 because of four things.
00:28 Your talent, your talent, your commitment,
00:32 your hunger, really, really important,
00:35 and because I wanted a team that wakes up every morning
00:39 determined to rise to the challenges
00:41 that our country faces.
00:43 Absolutely no complacency.
00:45 It's a long, long road from where we landed in 2019
00:49 to being in the privileged position,
00:52 and it is a privileged position,
00:53 to form the next Labour government,
00:56 and not a single vote has been cast.
00:59 Whatever anyone says, what any polls say,
01:02 not a single vote has been cast in the next general election
01:05 and every single vote has to be earned.
01:07 But we must keep our eyes on the prize,
01:09 and that's what today is all about,
01:11 which is the opportunity to form the next Labour government.
01:16 We have changed our party with purpose,
01:20 which is to put us in a position
01:22 to change our country for the better,
01:25 and that's what we must do,
01:26 change our country for the better for working people.
01:29 And as I always say, we are not doing this for ourselves.
01:33 We're not doing this for me, for Angela, for Rachel,
01:35 for people around this table.
01:37 We're not doing it for the Labour Party.
01:39 We're doing it for the country.
