00:00 - Thanks so much for joining me.
00:01 My name is Francesca.
00:02 I'm with E! News.
00:03 So nice to meet you, Hannah.
00:04 So nice to meet you, Derek.
00:05 - Likewise, Francesca.
00:06 Where are you right now?
00:08 - I'm currently in Los Angeles.
00:09 I just flew in from my hometown, Atlanta, Georgia.
00:12 - Atlanta?
00:13 My sister went to Spelman.
00:15 - No way!
00:17 - Yeah.
00:17 - Oh my goodness.
00:19 Yes.
00:20 How do road trips go in the Jeter family?
00:22 What's been the best road trip?
00:25 Or is it like complete chaos with four kids?
00:28 - Well, okay, it's definitely chaos.
00:31 We just had our first road trip with all four.
00:34 And it was from New York City to Cooperstown.
00:37 And it was for the Hall of Fame ceremony.
00:39 And we were in the car for four and a half hours.
00:43 So it was a long drive.
00:45 We've got two kids that are in, you know, car seats.
00:49 And then we've got two booster seats.
00:51 So we need a lot of room.
00:53 We need a big trunk.
00:55 We need a good sound system, as Derek would say.
00:58 Drown out the noise.
01:01 You need a lot of snacks.
01:03 But no, it's chaotic.
01:08 - Just to clarify one thing, Francesca,
01:11 it was her bright idea to bring all four of them.
01:13 That was, yeah, it was ambitious to have all four
01:18 when our youngest was, what, two months at the time?
01:21 A month and a half at the time?
01:23 So we got to-
01:23 - I didn't want to leave him, so he had to come with us.
01:27 - Okay, okay.
01:29 Well, guess what, guess what?
01:30 It's her baby, her choice.
01:31 You know, I get it.
01:32 She's like, "My little man's gonna come with me."
01:34 Speaking of having a little man now,
01:35 I mean, you have the big one with Derek,
01:37 and then you had three baby girls.
01:39 You have a boy.
01:40 How has it been adjusting when it comes to parenting?
01:43 No shade to you, Derek, but I mean,
01:46 we'll get to this in a minute,
01:47 but we saw your nails getting painted.
01:49 We saw tattoos all over your face and bejewels and whatnot.
01:52 But now you have a little boy.
01:53 What's been the most exciting part about now
01:56 having a little one that's just like you?
01:59 - Well, I'd say it's, first of all, it's strange
02:06 because, let me say it, because I have a younger sister.
02:10 You know, I've never had a brother.
02:12 And then we had three girls, so this is the first boy.
02:15 I have a nephew, but, you know,
02:17 not with him every single day.
02:18 So it has been kind of strange to even just see a boy
02:22 as opposed to the girls that I'm used to.
02:25 But it's been awesome.
02:27 Look, I've said it before.
02:29 I was never a guy that said, "Hey, I have to have a boy.
02:30 "I have to have a boy because, you know,
02:32 "I'm in love with my girls."
02:34 But I'm so happy to now have a son,
02:38 and I'm looking forward, he's immobile right now,
02:41 so he can't move, which is not a bad thing
02:45 when you have him chasing three others around.
02:47 So we'll have to do this interview again in a few months.
02:50 - How are the girls' big sisters, Mom?
02:53 - Oh my gosh.
02:56 Well, I was just telling him the other day
02:58 because they just started school,
02:59 and I feel like we're trying to kind of keep them separated
03:02 'cause he's still little, and we don't want him
03:04 to get like all the germs
03:05 and all those funky viruses from school.
03:09 But they're all over him.
03:10 I mean, they're always kissing him,
03:12 and it's like, you know, it's pretty fun.
03:17 - I'm still outnumbered.
03:19 - Back to school in the household.
03:20 Is it pretty chaotic?
03:21 Are y'all putting together school lunches?
03:23 What's that dynamic look like between y'all?
03:26 - Well, we're getting up a lot earlier.
03:28 We're packing lunches.
03:29 We gotta get two big girls out of the house in the morning.
03:33 There's, it's a lot.
03:35 It's a big adjustment 'cause the summertime,
03:36 I think you get used to putting them down a little later.
03:39 Like our dance parties at night go a little later,
03:42 and now we've had to kind of adjust, put them down earlier,
03:47 and so to get up earlier.
03:49 - It's fun.
03:50 - I think part of the dance parties,
03:53 now I'm imagining, Derek,
03:54 are you involved in these dance parties
03:56 as well as the nail sessions,
03:58 the nail salon sessions and everything?
04:00 - Yeah, I am.
04:01 We have, for the most part,
04:03 we usually have dance party almost every night.
04:07 Yeah, almost every night.
04:08 So yeah, I am involved.
04:10 I mean, it's performances.
04:12 - Yes.
04:12 - So it's very theatrical.
04:15 - Do you feel like there's more soft sides coming out?
04:18 - Well, yeah, I think a lot of people may have thought
04:20 I was emotionally stunted when I was playing.
04:23 That was not the case.
04:24 I just hit it well.
04:26 But no, I think having kids brings out
04:30 the softest side of everyone, you know?
04:32 So couldn't be happier.
04:35 - One of the greatest things that we saw
04:37 when it comes to your family
04:37 was the ESPN documentary titled "The Captain."
04:40 I have to ask my E question.
04:42 Could we possibly, would you ever entertain
04:45 maybe kind of a "Keeping Up with the Jitters" episode?
04:49 - I'm sorry?
04:50 - Would you ever?
04:53 You heard me, entertain a reality television show.
04:55 Bob, let's start with you.
04:57 - No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
05:00 - We have a hard time with just even social media.
05:03 You know what I mean?
05:04 So that would be, yeah.
05:06 - No, there's no, there you go.
05:08 (laughing)
05:09 - No, no.
05:10 - Absolutely not, okay.
05:11 - Absolutely not.
05:12 - Well, while we have you here then,
05:13 let me ask you this,
05:14 because one thing I admire about you all,
05:16 obviously I'm not in your household,
05:17 but social media kind of is our way
05:20 that we can have our best up to you all.
05:22 The key to marital success.
05:24 You guys have been married since 2016, Napa Valley.
05:27 I'm curious, with everything that we're seeing in Hollywood,
05:31 I don't really have to go there.
05:32 You see kind of the trend that we're seeing a lot now.
05:35 What is the key to you all's marital success?
05:38 - Uh.
05:39 - I think making time for each other.
05:43 We started, you know, we started having kids
05:46 right after we got married.
05:48 So I think it's just continue to make time for each other,
05:53 take trips, you know,
05:54 'cause there's a lot going on day to day in our household.
05:58 A lot of noise, a lot of kids,
06:00 and that can be really overwhelming
06:02 and that can kind of take over.
06:04 So it's just nice to once in a while, you know,
06:07 date night, just the simple things, but you know.
06:11 - How do you manage to keep it romantic?
06:12 Do you make sure that once a week,
06:14 or maybe twice a month,
06:15 you guys are having you and him time, or what is it?
06:18 - Well, look, we're no relationship experts here.
06:22 Like we're not the go-to couple for perfect marriage.
06:27 Like no, there's no perfect marriages.
06:28 I would say, you know, yeah, you take time with each other,
06:31 but then at the same time,
06:32 you also have to take time for yourself.
06:34 You know, I think that's important.
06:36 I used to, every day I would get up
06:38 and I would go get coffee and drive around by myself,
06:41 which has completely been eliminated now
06:43 because she's finagling her way into the car
06:45 with at least two of the kids.
06:47 So now my time for myself is gone.
06:50 But I think you just have to continue to have fun, right?
06:53 I mean, you have fun with each other,
06:55 you have fun with family, you have fun with friends.
06:57 - I want to say, commend to you, Hannah.
06:58 I love that you have been this beautiful,
07:01 on the cover, "Sports Illustrated" swimsuit model.
07:04 And it leads me to believe you're a woman-
07:06 - Can you do that move again?
07:07 (laughing)
07:08 Yeah, I'm all.
07:10 - Notice I don't model.
07:11 Clearly that's not one of my strong suits.
07:14 I can get some lessons from you one day, Hannah,
07:16 but you have three young women that you are raising.
07:19 What is the way in which that you speak to them
07:21 about public opinion and confidence?
07:24 Or is there something that you make sure
07:25 to instill that they have?
07:26 - You know, Derek and I actually were just talking
07:29 about this, just about how we talk to our girls
07:34 about beauty and making sure that they understand
07:38 that it's what's on the inside that's most important,
07:42 just to instill that confidence.
07:43 And just the way you speak to them about,
07:46 if they're riding a bike or just anything that they're doing
07:51 and just kind of showing your praise,
07:55 showing how confident that you are in them
07:58 and their ability to do anything that they wanna do.
08:01 I think that that's really important.
08:03 And just kind of reminding ourselves
08:05 not to always touch on the, like,
08:07 oh, you're so pretty, you're so cute.
08:10 I kind of remind myself too,
08:12 because we're all guilty of it,
08:13 but instead being like, you're so smart,
08:16 you did such a great job.
08:18 It's corny, but I try to do that.
08:21 - I love how philanthropic you all are.
08:23 And I love how you all do campaigns just like this one
08:25 that is close to your heart.
08:27 I wanna jump into the Jeep campaign.
08:29 Congratulations. - Let's do it.
08:30 - Multi-year deal.
08:32 That's what's up.
08:33 Can't wait.
08:34 One day, right?
08:35 But the Grand Wagoneer, let's talk about it.
08:38 How did this all come about?
08:39 And are you all Jeep people?
08:41 - Well, go ahead.
08:44 She's been a Jeep person,
08:46 but go ahead and tell your history.
08:46 - Well, you know, I grew up having Jeeps.
08:50 My mom had a, not a Wagoneer, I'm sorry, a Cherokee.
08:55 And then my dad has a Wrangler.
08:58 We have, of course, a Wagoneer.
09:01 And we absolutely love it.
09:03 It's like very functional for our family.
09:05 It's a little bit of luxury,
09:07 but also has a third row for all of our kids.
09:11 But, and it really drives well too.
09:14 To be honest, we looked at a lot of SUVs over the years,
09:18 and especially now as our family has grown.
09:21 And it's been really the only one that has worked for us.
09:24 - Yeah, well, it was, you know,
09:26 I'm older than you probably, Francesca, so.
09:28 It was, you know, back in the day,
09:31 we'd be having the station wagon right now, you know?
09:34 We got a lot of kids.
09:35 We were doing something.
09:38 We ever had an appearance for a Jeep,
09:40 and we just kept mentioning that we had to get home.
09:43 We gotta get home,
09:44 'cause we gotta take the girls to school.
09:45 You know, we gotta take the girls to school,
09:47 we gotta pick them up.
09:47 That's what we try every day.
09:49 It's, usually it's both of us for drop-off and pickup,
09:53 but at least one of us for drop-off and pickup.
09:55 And we were doing this together.
09:57 So that's where, you know,
09:58 the premise of the campaign came, drove all night.
10:01 So it really is authentic to who we have become.
10:06 (laughing)
10:09 - Congratulations on the Jeep campaign
10:11 and everything else that you all have
10:13 lined up in your future.
10:14 We're so excited to watch you guys on social media.
10:16 Thanks for being so transparent in the interview.
10:17 - Thank you. - Thank you.
10:18 - Appreciate it.
10:19 All right, take care.
10:20 - Bye, nice meeting you. - Good night, bye guys.
10:21 - Bye-bye.
10:22 (upbeat music)
10:24 you
