00:00 -I've been going to prison for 38 years
00:02 because my mother and father are both in prison.
00:04 -Four minutes of gunfire,
00:06 one Philadelphia policeman killed and it was over.
00:08 The members of the Back to Nature group MOVE
00:11 had been routed from their house.
00:12 -The judge sentenced each to 30 to 100 years in jail.
00:16 -That's my mama. When she was arrested,
00:18 she was almost due to give birth to me.
00:20 When she did give birth, she was in a prison cell.
00:22 So this would have been her cell?
00:24 -Yeah.
00:25 -This was a counterculture.
00:28 -It's a Philadelphia I hadn't seen before.
00:31 -The MOVE organization experienced so much hate
00:33 and anger from the system.
00:34 -It was a situation that everybody knew
00:37 was going to explode.
00:39 It was only a matter of time.

00:48 -It's one of the few things I've seen
00:51 that I'm never going to forget.

01:17 -When I learned that they were actually in prison,
01:20 I might have been 13 years older.
01:21 I started looking for something that would show their innocence.
01:25 -I wound up doing that for over 25 years.
01:28 -The MOVE9 have been up for parole for the last 10 years.
01:31 -The denial of parole is violating their constitutional rights.
01:35 -What can I say about it? What can I do about it?
