00:10 He broke off a piece of marble as he clambered onto the 16th century statues chariot and
00:15 damaged a horse`s foot on the way back down.
00:19 Later identified, he faces a stiff fine after causing about 5,000 euros in damage to the
00:25 monument.
00:26 Sadly, this is not the first incident of vandalism of Italy`s historical attractions
00:32 this summer. A few weeks ago, German tourists sprayed graffiti on the exterior of the historic
00:38 Vasari Corridor, also in Florence.
00:42 And in June, another visitor, this time a Bulgarian living in Britain, scratched his
00:47 and his girlfriend`s name with a key on an internal wall of the 2,000-year-old Colosseum
00:52 in Rome.
00:53 He faces a fine of up to 15,000 euros and a year in prison.
