00:00 India's Chandrayaan-3 mission has so far been a total success, with its Vikram lander
00:07 now performing experiments, all while the Pragyan rover cruises untouched lunar territory.
00:13 But now the Indian Space Research Organization has announced a huge discovery.
00:17 They've noticed movement on the moon.
00:19 The ISRO posted on Axis that their lander's instrument for lunar seismic activity has
00:24 just detected what appears to be a seismic event.
00:26 They add they believe it's natural in origin, as they have also detected the small seismic
00:31 vibrations of both their lander and rover as well, and are able to differentiate them.
00:35 According to a statement by the ISRO, "ILSA's primary objective is to measure ground vibrations
00:41 generated by natural quakes, impacts and artificial events," and their tweet shows an image of
00:46 the readout related to that very activity.
00:48 They add that they are currently attempting to investigate the August 26 occurrence.
00:52 Experts say this is exciting news, as it's the first new seismic data we've had from
00:56 the moon since the 70s.
00:57 But this will be the last bit of data we get for at least a little while, as the Vikram
01:01 lander and Pragyan rover are currently experiencing the moon's two-week nighttime period, meaning
01:06 no solar energy is available to keep their batteries charged.
