00:00 Taiwan will need thousands of foreign workers in the coming months.
00:05 The Philippines' hiring is a priority.
00:07 Watch JP Soriano.
00:09 I managed to get the documents from the Manila Economic and Cultural Office here in Taipei.
00:18 Janet is an OFW who has been working as a caregiver for more than a decade.
00:23 She will extend her term for another year before she retires in the Philippines.
00:29 I built a house and my parents built a house for me.
00:36 The reason why Filipinos like Janet are so dedicated to their work
00:41 is because of the labor representative of the Philippines,
00:43 which is why Taiwan wanted to hire more Filipino workers.
00:48 Particularly in the service and hospitality sector,
00:51 which is a target to be expanded in the coming months.
00:54 The target is to hire hundreds of thousands of foreign workers.
00:59 But hiring is one of the Philippines' priorities.
01:03 The target is to announce the hiring in December.
01:07 And something like 800,000 workers.
01:11 The demand for Filipino English teachers is also high.
01:15 According to MECO, Taiwan has a bilingual program
01:19 or teaching to become fluent in English.
01:22 That's why they wanted to hire more teachers.
01:25 The let-passer teacher is averaging 72,000 NT.
01:32 So that's around 130,000 pesos a month.
01:36 The non-let-passers in cram schools are 40,000 NT.
01:43 So that's around 70,000 pesos.
01:45 Taiwan is small, but it is one of the most deployed Filipino workers.
01:49 According to MECO, more than 150,000 Filipinos work here,
01:54 most of whom are factory workers.
01:56 One of the successful people in Taiwan is Jeffrey.
02:00 He started as an operator in a semiconductor factory
02:04 until he was promoted as a line reader.
02:07 And now, he's a head robo-shooter
02:09 who is not only training Filipino workers,
02:12 but also other nationalities.
02:15 They saw that Filipinos are so flexible.
02:19 They can quickly learn.
02:21 Thanks to his talent, he was named as the best employee in Taiwan.
02:27 From the presidential palace, he said,
02:30 "Richard, you were chosen by the presidential palace.
02:33 You will meet the president of Taiwan personally.
02:36 You will be awarded for the best employee in Taiwan."
02:39 I said, "Wow!"
