00:00 If you know me, I am a person who is always in existential crisis.

00:04 So I have been pondering the death of my parents since I realized that people could die.

00:10 And even though I know it's something that's inevitable for all of us,

00:13 I imagine that today would be the scariest and the saddest and the most difficult day of my life.

00:18 And it is. But what I didn't expect is that kind of wedged in between all this fear and grief and sadness,

00:27 I have overwhelming love and pride and thankfulness.

00:32 My mother possessed magic. She was more than just a person.

00:37 She was an experience to be had.

00:40 Her sense of humor, her wit, her warmth and her ability to make you feel cared for, comfortable and loved or unmatched.

00:48 And she used these qualities to make other people feel magical, too.

00:53 Her 45 year marriage to my father set an incredibly high standard,

00:58 which is probably why I'm still single, for how I view romantic relationships and family life in general.

01:10 So I don't know how we're going to go on without her, but I know that she would want us to figure it out.

01:17 And I know we're going to feel her absence every day, but we're also going to feel her overwhelming love every day.

01:23 And if you knew my mother, it's my hope that her memory will be a blessing to you

01:28 and that her memory will be a source of comfort and joy for the rest of your lives,

01:33 just as it will be for ours. Thank you for loving my mother.
