00:00 Amazing! Let's get to know the team beauty queens of Amazing Earth Heroes Den.
00:06 Maybe some of you know where I am right now.
00:19 But before I tell you, there's someone who will give you a tour.
00:23 Miss Amazing Tour Guide, come in!
00:26 [music]
00:30 Mabuhay Kapuso! This is Roxanne Allison Reyes.
00:34 Your Miss Earth Philippines 2020 and Miss Earth Water 2020.
00:39 [music]
00:51 We're here at Puerto Real Gardens in Entramuros.
00:55 There is a tunnel, but where does it lead? Let's find out.
01:00 [music]
01:02 During the Spanish time, gardens and parks actually have a promenade.
01:06 So it is where single ladies and gentlemen meet.
01:09 [bell rings]
01:10 We time travel during the Spanish times and this is actually a very fun experience
01:15 because I am at the heart of Manila for the first time.
01:19 I'm just so proud to be a Filipina.
01:21 Knowing that we have this kind of rich culture and history.
01:26 [music]
01:30 Puerto Real Gardens is actually in relation to my advocacy,
01:35 which is urban gardening and sustainable agriculture.
01:38 [music]
01:43 Miss Ecoteam International 2020, Roberta Angela Tamundong.
01:48 She is the one who calls for a ban on single-use plastics.
01:52 [music]
01:54 Aside from the title of Miss Ecoteam International,
01:57 Roan also won the Best in Eco Dress.
02:01 What's the story behind this dress? Is it a Philippine costume?
02:06 It's a Filipiniana inspired costume for the Eco Dress Prime.
02:11 So it's made from reusable plastics and colorful rice bags from the Philippines.
02:17 That's why it's super colorful from head to toe.
02:20 So wearing that crown and having that title, what is the advocacy behind that?
02:25 So my advocacy is spreading awareness to the youth with regards to environmental issues.
02:30 And our top environmental issues today is plastic pollution.
02:35 And I want to push that for elimination of the single use of plastic.
02:39 I hope you continue to love nature and I hope you don't get tired of sharing your knowledge,
02:46 especially with the youth.
02:48 For us here at Amazing Earth, you are an Amazing Earth Hero.
02:52 [music]
02:56 Here in Palawan, there is a beauty queen who has been fighting for the future of nature since she was a child.
03:03 Jasmine Precious-Belo became the 2018 crown winner.
03:08 But she is still a student at Palawan State University.
03:11 She is a nature lover.
03:13 She is active in pro-environment activities like monthly beautification and clean-up drive.
03:19 And she is also involved in school and municipal coastal clean-ups.
03:23 Hello, welcome to Amazing Earth.
03:26 Hello.
03:27 What are the latest projects that you are doing for the cleanliness and tidiness here in Coron?
03:32 Coastal clean-up and tree planting.
03:36 Coastal clean-up is done in every barangay where we clean and find trash.
03:45 Their homes are close to the sea.
03:49 This is our way to help and have cleanliness and respect for our environment.
03:57 We do tree planting in the Guadalupe area, which includes the municipalities of Distancer and Green Staker.
04:07 Jasmine is a beauty and a brain spa because she finished her tourism management with honors.
04:14 How did you combine your environmental advocacy and your knowledge in tourism?
04:21 My advocacy is sustainable tourism development.
04:26 So as a tourism graduate, we created projects and plans that we entrusted to our teachers or to the municipality
04:38 that will help or develop environmental protection.
04:44 It is important that we take care of our environment because what we do will be returned to us.
04:49 As an environmental advocate, what is your dream for Coron?
04:54 My dream is that in the long run, there will be development of projects
04:59 where we can all work together to help environmental protection here in Coron.
05:05 You are a beauty queen and many are looking up to you.
05:08 What is your message to the youth who are looking up to you?
05:11 In doing good to our environment, throwing away the trash,
05:17 it is much better to help each other, work together and have respect for our environment.
05:23 You are not just a beauty queen, Jasmine, but an amazing earth hero.
05:28 Farming is the challenge for the beauty queen, Mary Dana Resurrection
05:38 and her husband, Demetrio Cruz from San Miguel, Bulacan.
05:43 But before they start farming,
05:46 Mang Demetrio will teach Mary Dana how to cook out of the box.
05:50 How long do you usually cook it?
05:53 One hour.
05:55 We will put it in the fire after this.
06:00 One hour.
06:01 You can eat it now.
06:02 We will now open the rice in the rice cooker.
06:11 It is just a matter of time for them to taste the rice in the rice cooker.
06:18 It is a bit hard.
06:19 Not only for Mary Dana's contest, but also for the Jungle Survival Cooking,
06:31 it is a winner.
06:32 But it is just a matter of time for her to taste the rice in the rice cooker.
06:36 Where are you from?
06:40 I am from Manila.
06:41 Is this your first time out here?
06:43 Yes, it is my first time.
06:45 What do you usually do?
06:48 For me, aside from being a student,
06:52 I sometimes go out to fight, join in the pageants.
06:56 And what about the rest?
06:58 There is nothing like this in Manila.
07:11 And after 15 minutes, this is now Mary Dana's rice.
07:16 If you look at it, it is a lot.
07:18 But if you add it to the kilo, it is just a bit.
07:22 I think this is only half a kilo.
07:24 Our beauty queen is tired.
07:26 But the truth is, the process for this rice is still long.
07:30 It can reach the family of rice.
07:32 After she has eaten, she will pull the rice from the field,
07:37 bring it to the road, and the farmer will take it.
07:41 He will weigh it.
07:43 Now, because the rice is getting low,
07:46 if you can earn 10,000 pesos per hectare, it is already good.
07:51 Beauty queen and farmer.
07:53 You wouldn't have thought that they can be part of the rice farming.
07:57 The life of a Tagalog person is connected to the life of a Tagalog province.
08:01 It is very evident here in the amazing bonding of Mary Dana and Mang Demetrio.
08:06 A meeting that will bring back the unforgettable memories
08:10 of those who are rooted in the cement and who are rooted in the soil.
