00:00 I, like so many others, have followed this band
00:01 throughout my entire life, buying their records,
00:03 watching their live shows, doing anything I can do
00:06 to even be the tiniest bit as cool as them.
00:09 They are my absolute favorites,
00:10 and they're here with us today.
00:12 Please welcome Mick Jagger, Keith Richards,
00:15 and Ronnie Wood, The Rolling Stone.
00:17 (audience cheering)
00:20 He felt that, right?
00:25 He felt that, right?
00:28 (audience cheering)
00:31 - What's up, everybody?
00:34 - Welcome, welcome, welcome.
00:44 We are live.
00:45 - What is this about?
00:46 What is this for?
00:47 Why are we here?
00:48 - Well, we're here.
00:50 - I feel like I wanna stand up.
00:51 (laughing)
00:52 - We're here, yeah.
00:54 But we're here to present our new single,
00:58 which is called "Angry," and the video of it,
01:01 which you'll see later.
01:02 And "Angry" is the first single from our new album
01:05 called "Hackney Diamonds," which is why we're in Hackney,
01:08 and which comes out in October the 20th.
01:11 - That's right.
01:12 - So that's why we're here.
01:12 (audience cheering)
01:15 - It's been 18 years since you made it.
01:18 - We've been very lazy.
01:18 - There was a blitz on it.
01:20 (laughing)
01:20 - It was a blitz.
01:21 - It's not very quick at all.
01:22 - We have done something.
01:24 We've been on the road most of the time.
01:26 - No, maybe we were a bit too kind of like lazy,
01:30 and then suddenly we said, "Why don't we go,
01:32 "let's put a deadline, and let's make a record
01:35 "and put a deadline."
01:36 So Keith and I and Ronnie had this chat,
01:38 and we said, "Okay, we'll make this record Christmas,
01:41 "and we're gonna finish it by Valentine's Day."
01:43 - So we made two albums.
01:44 (laughing)
01:45 - Yeah, exactly, yeah.
01:46 So we went into the studio, like Ronnie said, in December,
01:51 and we cut 23 tracks very quickly,
01:55 and finished them off in January,
01:57 and mixed them in February.
01:58 - And did, it must feel different,
02:01 not having Charlie Watts in the studio with you playing.
02:06 What was that like?
02:07 - Oh, yeah, ever since Charlie's gone, it's different.
02:11 Of course, you know, I mean, he's number four.
02:14 He's missing, he's up there.
02:16 - Yeah, I do feel that number four is around.
02:19 - Of course he's missed, incredibly.
02:22 But thanks to Charlie Watts also,
02:25 we have Steve Jordan, who was Charlie's recommendation
02:29 for if anything should happen to him,
02:31 Steve Jordan's your man.
02:33 - He picked Steve Jordan.
02:34 - Yeah, and yeah, just out of, way, way, way back.
02:37 And also, you know, he's been a friend of ours.
02:41 I've worked with Steve.
02:42 So it was a kind of natural progression.
02:45 You know, it would have been a lot harder
02:46 without Charlie's blessing.
02:48 - I think the last time I saw the three of you,
02:50 you played Hyde Park here in London, and it was amazing.
02:53 And Hyde Park, if you've never seen this show,
02:55 it's beautiful, it's in the park,
02:57 and it starts around seven o'clock, the sun is out,
02:59 and then the sun goes down, and everyone's out by 10 o'clock.
03:03 It's very British rules, everyone out.
03:05 Everyone, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, everyone out.
03:07 Never happened, go, go, go.
03:09 And so it was a great show, and I talked to you the next day.
03:12 I talked to Mick, and I said,
03:14 "What'd you think of the show?
03:15 "I thought it was great, how'd you like it?"
03:17 And you go, "Well, you know,
03:18 "we're not really a daytime band."
03:20 (audience laughing)
03:24 I thought that was so funny.
03:26 - It was like Sympathy for the Devil at eight o'clock.
03:29 (audience laughing)
03:30 - You don't wanna paint it black, do you?
03:32 But this album, this album can be played at any time of day.
03:35 - Any time of the day, any part of the world you want,
03:38 any time of the day.
03:38 - Hackney Diamonds, Hackney Diamonds,
03:41 track three can be played at, you know.
03:43 - Or track four, you could play track four.
03:45 - Don't you dare, don't you dare.
03:46 - You can play track four.
03:47 - Okay. - Five and six.
03:49 - Five and six as well.
03:50 - It's already tomorrow in Australia.
03:52 Tomorrow, they've already listened to the album.
03:53 You're right.
