00:12 chick who was taking a selfie at the 14th Factory Gallery in Los Angeles when
00:16 she knocked over several pedestals like dominoes, ruining $200,000 in artwork. The
00:21 accident occurred in an exhibit by artist Simon Birch titled "Hypercane,"
00:24 which is a series of crowns made of different types of material like wood,
00:28 nylon, gold, and flowers. In security camera footage, you can see the woman
00:32 squat down to get a photo, lose her balance, and topple $200,000 in crowns.
00:37 It's hard enough to take a selfie, but then imagine doing it in a dark room
00:41 full of mirrors. At Washington DC's Hirshhorn Museum, a piece by Japanese
00:45 artist Yayoi Kusama titled "Infinity Mirror Groom, All the Eternal Love I Have
00:50 for the Pumpkins," was shut down when one of the glowing ceramic pumpkins was
00:54 damaged by a clumsy selfie taker. Destroying modern art is bad enough, but
00:58 some selfies have destroyed art from centuries ago. In November of 2016, a
01:03 statue of St. Michael from the 18th century was destroyed by a Brazilian
01:07 tourist who backed into the sculpture while taking a selfie. And it's not
01:11 always clumsiness. Some people are climbing fragile works of art that are
01:15 hundreds of years old just to get that selfie. In May 2016, a 126 year old statue
01:21 of Portuguese hero Don Sebastiao was destroyed when a tourist climbed it to
01:25 take a selfie with him. In 2014, teenage tourists climbed on a 200 year old
01:30 plaster copy of a Greek sculpture from the 3rd century. When the team climbed it,
01:34 the leg snapped off and shattered. Thankfully, the original is safe in Milan.
01:38 And the statue of the two Hercules, a monument dated to circa 1700, had a piece
01:43 of its crown shattered when two selfie-taking tourists climbed on it. All
01:47 of this art destroyed by selfies. It makes a man want to get revenge, which is
01:53 exactly what one man did in Connecticut. 74 year old Carl Puglia was charged for
01:58 third-degree criminal mischief after visiting a Barnes & Noble bookstore and
02:02 destroying several copies of Kim Kardashian West's book of selfies. So have
