00:31 The short centers on Sherwin, a closeted young boy who, according to the film's plot description,
00:36 runs the risk of being outed by his own heart after it pops out of his chest to chase down
00:41 the boy of his dreams.
00:43 And don't worry, I'm not going to spoil it for you, but it does have a happy ending that
00:46 shows you the true power of following your heart for whoever you love.

00:58 In an interview with NBC News, Bravo and David say their own lives were their inspiration,

01:05 Originally, the story revolved around a boy and a girl, but resonated more when they started
01:09 developing it with the same gender.
01:11 And that's something that's not always embraced in animation, and more specifically, kid-friendly
01:15 and family-friendly programming.
01:16 I mean, remember the backlash the live-action Beauty and the Beast got this year for their
01:20 depiction of the character LeFou as gay?
01:23 Censors in Malaysia requested scenes be removed, the film was given a 16H+ rating in Russia,
01:29 and the film was even pulled from a theater in Alabama.
01:32 Bravo shares, "With In a Heartbeat, we wanted to challenge the preconceived notion that
01:36 LGBTQ content is not appropriate or suitable for younger audiences.
01:41 It's an innocent and lighthearted story about a boy and his crush that we hope will resonate
01:45 with younger people regardless of their backgrounds."
01:49 And the Internet's hearts are exploding too for their project.
01:52 Jesse Page tweets, "PSA, everyone watch In a Heartbeat.
01:55 It's such a lovely and modern visual representation of young LGBT romance."
