00:00 Wellness inside and you understanding
00:03 and taking responsibility for your wellness inside.
00:06 That's the real beauty.
00:08 The physical stuff is cool,
00:10 but like park that until you know
00:12 what's happening with your body.
00:13 Hello, you're in my bathroom,
00:16 but that's super appropriate
00:18 because I am Beatrice Dixon,
00:20 co-founder and CEO of The Honey Pot Company.
00:22 Today is gonna be a ridiculously busy day,
00:25 so I'm super excited to get started.
00:27 Let me throw a robe on,
00:28 and then I'm gonna show you my reclared five minute face.
00:31 So one of the most important things
00:36 about facial care and self care to me
00:38 is really all about your nighttime routine.
00:41 For my nighttime routine, I use our,
00:44 it's funny, it's actually our soothing lavender
00:47 vulva cream, but it's gorgeous.
00:50 It has lavender, it has cocoa butter,
00:52 it has coconut oil, it's absolutely beautiful.
00:55 Most people don't recommend this.
00:56 I do it 'cause my skin is legendary
00:59 and it can hold it up.
01:01 But I blot a little bit of tea tree oil
01:03 if I have any kind of pimple or anything like that.
01:05 And also drinking a lot of water, which is huge.
01:09 So let's get started with the five minute routine.
01:11 First and foremost is this really beautiful,
01:14 it's called Skincredible.
01:16 It's a sandalwood elixir,
01:18 which is kind of like a serum by Simply Divine.
01:21 I absolutely love all of her products.
01:24 They're incredible.
01:25 So literally, I just take this,
01:27 take a few pumps, put it on my face.
01:30 You know, it's really important
01:33 when you're applying a serum
01:35 to make sure that you're kind of lifting your skin up.
01:38 Next thing is the Simply Divine
01:41 Amazing Face Moisturizer.
01:43 This is absolutely beautiful.
01:45 It has rose oil in it, it has lavender.
01:48 She says that her first ingredient is love, which I love.
01:51 That's really important with skincare.
01:53 It's really important to, I think,
01:55 to use skincare from companies
01:57 that actually care about humanity.
02:00 And so that's actually one of the things
02:01 that attracted me to Simply Divine.
02:03 Applying it to the face,
02:06 making sure you're getting all around the eyes.
02:09 Anything you do to your face, you do to your neck.
02:12 Typically, your decollete,
02:14 but then I would be showing y'all all my business,
02:16 so you don't need to see all that.
02:18 [laughs]
02:20 This is probably one of the most important things.
02:23 The Black Girl Sunscreen, Make It Matter.
02:26 It's a sunscreen gel.
02:27 It's matte, so it's not super, super oily, which I love,
02:32 and it doesn't leave a film.
02:33 A little tiny bit goes a long way.
02:36 People think humans that have melanated skin
02:39 don't need to use sunscreen.
02:41 That is not true.
02:42 We do need to use sunscreen,
02:44 and I love this sunscreen because it's literally made
02:46 for humans that have melanated skin.
02:48 I really love this YSL primer
02:51 because it really gives your skin a dewy look,
02:55 which is really, really amazing.
02:57 I always feel good putting it on
02:59 because it's really important for me
03:00 to take care of my skin.
03:01 So I started Honey Pot Company with my brother back in 2012.
03:07 The Honey Pot Company is a vagina and vulva wellness brand.
03:12 We started it because I had a serious bout
03:16 with bacterial vaginosis.
03:17 It was terrible.
03:19 To make a long story short,
03:20 essentially my grandmother came to me in a dream.
03:23 My grandmother transitioned when my mother was young,
03:25 and so I've never met her in this life,
03:27 but she came to me in a dream,
03:29 and she basically told me what to do to solve my issue.
03:33 She gave me a list of ingredients,
03:34 and she told me that if I was able
03:37 to just put these ingredients together,
03:39 I'd be able to make something that would solve
03:42 for my problem with bacterial vaginosis.
03:44 Literally, I did it, and within four to five days,
03:48 whatever I had going on at the time went away.
03:51 And so Honey Pot is literally born from a dream.
03:56 So next is the Elf Lip Exfoliator.
04:00 I love this exfoliator
04:01 because it's not exfoliating the way that you would think.
04:05 It's not like a lip scrub where it has salt or sugar,
04:09 and I think that those things are important,
04:12 but I like this because you may feel a little bit
04:14 of a tingle, but it's doing what it's supposed to do.
04:16 So next, my girl Rihanna did it again.
04:20 Rihanna, I love you.
04:21 You're wonderful.
04:22 Is the Fenty Skin Lip Oil.
04:25 We're gonna be putting on some lipstick in a little bit,
04:27 so I don't want my lips to be too oily.
04:30 You know, and you literally just like rub it in, right?
04:33 Keep it simple.
04:35 So next is Goop, Goop, Goop.
04:38 Seriously, we all know about Goop.
04:40 We all have to have respect for it.
04:42 Gwyneth, I love you.
04:44 This lip balm, you guys, is absolutely gorgeous.
04:48 Really amazing throughout the day,
04:49 especially if you're not wearing lipstick
04:51 or pre-putting on your lipstick.
04:54 I'm not just saying all this
04:55 because Gwyneth is one of my best friends.
04:57 It really is a really, really, really,
05:00 really, really amazing product, and it's cute.
05:02 Look at that, look at that little, you know what I mean?
05:05 So first I'm gonna apply the lip liner.
05:08 It's kind of hard to talk while I'm doing it.
05:12 [laughs]
05:14 Okay.
05:18 Listen, a good red lip is classic,
05:21 it's legendary, and it's all you need.
05:23 And this Boss Lady Red Lip will literally last you
05:26 for hours without needing to reapply.
05:28 It's really important to support Black-owned business,
05:32 especially Black-owned women businesses.
05:34 Honey Pie is a Black-owned women-owned business.
05:37 At the end of the day, we're all human beings.
05:40 That's not lost on me.
05:41 But the opportunities that we've been given
05:44 to be successful in business,
05:46 that is only gonna be able to last if we support each other.
05:50 It may not be a part of my whole skin regimen
05:53 or my whole, with my clothes and everything like that,
05:55 but it's really important for me
05:57 to support other Black-owned businesses,
05:59 especially if they're women-owned businesses.
06:02 Putting on liquid lipstick,
06:03 it's really important to pay attention to where it's going
06:07 because I'm gonna tell you in a second why.
06:11 Melissa would be so proud of me right now.
06:14 She had to teach me how to do this a couple years ago.
06:17 Melissa, what do you think?
06:20 I really love this Gimme Brow Benefit.
06:23 It's just like a moisturizer for your brow
06:25 and it kinda keeps them up.
06:27 So just going through, getting the brows all in order,
06:30 keeping it simple.
06:32 That's how I like to flow.
06:33 This is, once again, my girl Rihanna, Fenty Beauty.
06:38 Her eyeshadow palette,
06:40 I like really natural tones
06:43 just because I like to keep things simple.
06:45 And I'm using a Q-tip because I'm a bit of a germaphobe.
06:49 (laughs)
06:51 I don't use a lot of brushes and things like that,
06:55 but literally just keeping it simple.
06:57 We didn't really launch until 2014
07:01 and we started off really small.
07:03 It was literally in the kitchen.
07:05 But in 2016, we got an email from Target,
07:09 which blew our mind.
07:11 And basically, they had heard about us
07:13 and they wanted to talk to us.
07:15 We were very lucky because we were able
07:18 to get in front of Target,
07:19 which doesn't necessarily happen every day.
07:22 We got that opportunity in 2016.
07:25 2017, we actually launched in 1,100 doors of Target,
07:30 which was incredible.
07:32 We had no idea of what we were getting into.
07:34 (laughs)
07:35 But, you know, through a lot of trial and tribulation,
07:38 things worked out.
07:39 Honey Pot is sold in every single Target
07:43 and Target actually has the biggest portfolio
07:46 of our products on their shelf
07:47 of all of our retail partners.
07:49 So that completes my five minute face.
07:52 Crazy, crazy day.
07:53 Y'all are gonna be with me the whole way.
07:55 So, let's get to it.
07:56 I'm super excited about this partnership with Target.
08:04 We are going on an HBCU tour
08:06 and I'm gonna be moderating panels
08:08 at Clark Atlanta University, Howard University,
08:12 Prairie View, and North Carolina A&T.
08:15 I think the main message that I want to come across
08:18 is that it's our responsibility
08:21 to take care of our wellness.
08:22 Self-care is really about being connected to your body,
08:26 being responsible with your body.
08:28 If I could wave a magic wand,
08:30 that would be what I want people to walk away.
08:33 Just really understanding that wellness is yours.
08:37 I mean, really, that's the real wealth.
08:38 (upbeat music)
