Christine Welsh of the Sapphire Community Pantry is joining Creators of Community Ownership
Transcript
00:00 We're retiring in October and I laugh when I say retire because I didn't want to totally
00:06 step away from helping others and being involved in the community.
00:12 And I heard about the Creators and whilst I didn't know a lot about it, I just had a
00:18 gut feeling this is a darn good idea.
00:21 And I know April and I've worked with April on a number of things in the past and I actually
00:27 really respect April, I respect her business acumen and her ethics.
00:33 Now I grew up in the country, I know what it's like to not have access to medical and
00:38 health and how important it is and how the stats show that in fact the country people
00:43 have worse health outcomes than city folk.
00:47 We have such less choice and such less ability to actually access what's around.
00:53 Having had cancer last year I know what it's like to have to travel long distances.
00:57 I'm a very boring person who really loves writing policy and governance issues and those
01:01 sorts of things and I've also got lots of experience in how to start up a charity and
01:07 pitfalls and the things you need to know about.
01:10 So April reached out, reached back and a few weeks ago invited me to join the board as
01:17 a director and since then I've learned a lot more, still learning, but the whole concept
01:22 is fantastic and Eden really needs something like this.
01:28 It's got very few resources but I think it's going to be one of those really from little
01:32 things big things are going to come.
