00:04 That's what friends are for! Mark Anthony got a big surprise from longtime pal David Beckham
00:20 in honor of a major milestone. The Latin music superstar received a star on the Hollywood Walk
00:26 of Fame on September 7th, where David was on hand to pay tribute to Mark with not only support,
00:32 but also heartfelt remarks and another special guest. The soccer icon's son, Cruz Beckham,
00:39 came along for the visit, and it makes sense that he'd make sure to cheer on the singer too.
00:43 Mark is also the 18-year-old's godfather. The salsa legend told reporters that David totally
00:49 faked him out and pretended that he wasn't coming to the event, making the moment even more memorable.
00:55 The retired athlete reflected on their decades-long bond in a touching speech,
00:59 telling the crowd how he and Mark hit it off right away.
01:02 Today we celebrate you, Mark. This is an incredible moment, not just for you,
01:09 but your family. And I'm so honored to be here for you. So I first met Mark 20 years ago when
01:16 I was playing for Real Madrid. It's probably not a cool thing to say, but I was very starstruck
01:22 when I met Mark, because on the weights at every Real Madrid game, I used to listen to his music.
01:29 I now dress a little bit like him. I learned salsa for one man only,
01:37 but please don't tell my wife. But when we met, we immediately had a special connection. I knew
01:46 that I had a friend for life. Over the years, our friendship has grown, and Mark is family.
01:52 Godfather to my son, Cruz, and someone that I love to spend time with. He is an incredible father,
01:59 husband, and family man, and he gives so much to the people in his life. Today, Mark, we celebrate
02:07 you and everything you mean to all of us and to all of your fans around the world.
02:12 Mark's energy and commitment to his craft is truly remarkable.
02:21 He lives to make music. He has carved his place in history as the best-selling salsa artist of
02:27 all time, and he is a brilliant ambassador for the Latin music and culture. He has done so much
02:34 to promote Latin music and inspire the next generation of young people. I love to see him
02:39 collaborate with young artists, for instance, like my son, and push boundaries and embrace new ideas.

04:03 David and Cruz weren't the only ones on hand to celebrate Mark. Of course,
04:07 the 54-year-old's wife, Nadia Ferreira, and two of his sons also commemorated the occasion.
04:12 And Mark appeared emotional when sharing gratitude for all the blessings in his life.
04:17 I'm beside myself. I've heard over and over again what it is to be humbled.
04:25 This is absolutely humbling. I didn't understand it at the time,
04:32 but I'm standing up here and I am a collection. As a man who's a collection of his friendships,
04:39 I'm a man who's a collection of his word. I'm a man who's just a... This is sobering because
04:50 I look at my family, I look at my friends, my loved ones, and my daily conversations,
04:57 and these are the people that shaped me. These are the people that made me.
05:01 So it looks... I always say it's expensive to look this cheap. And what that basically means
05:11 is that a lot of work goes into making it look easy, but it's not. And I've counted on my friends.
05:18 I'm a collection of a million hours of decisions, of conversations.
05:26 And all those conversations, those people that believed in me put in a million hours
05:33 to just make it seem right. And I'm just humbled. And I'm taking it in and I'm thinking about my
05:46 kids and I'm thinking about my friends. Did I just see David Gardner? What? Okay.
05:55 And I'm a collection of that. And
05:58 I'm not worthy because I have so much more to do. But this is just a...
06:05 This is just a symbol of just keep doing what you're doing. I feel like I just started.
06:14 That's what's weird to me is I just started. This is just the beginning.
06:23 But I really want to recognize my family, all those people that believed in me,
06:26 and all those nameless, nameless... Oh no, no, faceless people. But they're not nameless to me.
06:33 I know each and every person that has shaped me from my first fight in East Harlem, that I won
06:42 by the way. But it's those things that shape you. And I'm taking it in now. And I just can't believe
06:51 that I'm realizing this in front of... Just in this situation. Yeah. That's what's up. I thought
