00:00 The City of London has been reducing emissions on its roads and now the same can be said
00:06 about its river. Uber boats by Thames Clippers have launched their first hybrid passenger
00:12 ferry named the Earth Clipper, the first of its kind in Europe.
00:17 We're here today to witness the official launch of our latest vessel to join our fleet,
00:27 the Earth Clipper. But it's a pretty significant milestone because it's the first of our hybrid
00:35 and the first vessel that is taking us on our journey towards net zero.
00:45 And how's that journey been?
00:47 It's been a challenge. We started planning this boat back in 2019 and through the build
00:56 we've had to deal with COVID and the supply chains which has not been easy. But through
01:04 a collaborative approach and a partnership approach I'm really pleased to say that we've
01:10 finally got there and her two sister vessels, Celestial and Mars, will soon be joining the
01:20 fleet over the next six months.
01:21 What are you most excited about?
01:35 The fact that it delivers zero emissions through what would have been the original
01:42 EULES zone but furthermore it has a 90% reduction in CO2e over its entire operating route from
01:53 Barking in the east to Patney in the west and a 65% reduction in NOx and SOx. It's just
02:02 exciting for Thames Clippers to have started its journey to net zero.
