00:00 You mentioned the injury treatment process.
00:04 In some opportunities, you said you would like to participate
00:07 in the 2024 Paris Olympics, after the historic Tokyo victory.
00:12 How is your planning for the Olympic Games?
00:17 Considering you will still be injured,
00:19 how do you think about it for next year?
00:22 My goal has always been, from the moment I had the conditions
00:29 to be in the national team,
00:31 my biggest goal has always been the Olympics.
00:34 When Zé invited me last year to compete in the World Cup,
00:38 I saw I could do it.
00:40 Because at my age, even though I'm 41,
00:43 I competed in a World Cup at a high level,
00:46 so my thought was always to have a good season in the club
00:50 and, consequently, be called up to the national team.
00:53 Unfortunately, I got injured.
00:55 We know that, of course, it gets in the way.
00:58 I know that I took a few steps back.
01:03 I'm very clear about that.
01:06 But at the same time, it's an extra motivation for me.
01:09 Some people say, "Wow, Carol, you're 41, you're going to get injured."
01:15 It's hard. I'm almost about to retire.
01:18 That's a reality.
01:21 And this recovery requires a lot of patience,
01:24 a lot of resilience, a lot of consistency.
01:27 Every day, I have to work hard to be well again.
01:32 So, thinking about that, my goal is the Olympics.
01:35 No doubt about it. My plan A is to do my best to be on the same level as the team,
01:40 and, consequently, deserve a call-up to the national team,
01:44 and then fight for a spot in Paris.
01:48 And, on top of that, the Olympics are for 12 players, not 14.
01:51 So it's even harder.
01:53 But, as I said, I want to be there, I want to do my best,
01:58 both in the club and in the national team.
02:00 I know I can help in some way.
02:03 And that's my big goal.
02:05 We don't know if I'll make it, but I'll do everything to make it.
02:08 You set goals.
02:10 We know that those who follow you closely in your career
02:14 know that you're very focused.
02:16 You set a goal and say, "I'm going to do this and that."
02:19 Of course, you're focused on recovering from the injury at this first moment,
02:24 but, thinking about August 24th,
02:28 you set goals, "First, I'm going to do this step, which is the first one.
02:32 The second step is this one. The third step is this one."
02:34 Do you have that in your head, or are you saying,
02:37 "No, I'm going to focus on recovering first, then on playing,
02:40 and then we'll see what happens."
02:42 How is that process?
02:44 First, talking about goals and challenges,
02:46 I'm very much moved by challenges.
02:48 When I had my injury, I needed to set a challenge.
02:52 So, my challenge today is to be well and to be at a high level
02:56 to dispute a spot in the Olympics.
02:58 That's my first challenge.
03:00 But, thinking about goals to achieve,
03:03 the first goal is to play again.
03:06 I think that's the first one.
03:08 How will it be? And, even if I say "ours,"
03:13 because I'm not the only one who recovers,
03:15 Bruninha is always with me, so I always say "ours,"
03:17 because we're a team.
03:19 People were saying that Bruninha owns and owns Minas.
03:22 Bruninha is amazing, guys.
03:24 If you have a chance to talk to her,
03:28 you'll... It's surreal.
03:30 I say it because it's amazing. She's amazing.
03:33 Our goal is to play again, first, for Minas.
03:39 I believe that in February, March, my old form is coming back,
03:45 the playoffs will start, and to play well in the playoffs.
03:49 We don't know who will be the starter, who won't,
03:51 but I hope to be there helping, to play in all the games,
03:55 if I'm to play, to be a starter, anyway.
03:57 And, from there, we still have a few months,
04:01 but to be called to play in a VNL,
04:04 it's another time for preparation, if I'm able to,
04:09 to think about the Olympic spot.
04:12 So, of course, these are stages,
04:15 these are periods we schedule,
04:17 and it's by stage, there's no way to jump too much,
04:20 there's no way to think ahead before thinking about the present.
04:24 There's no point in thinking about the future,
04:26 you have to think about the present.
04:28 Carol, you commented on Isabela's previous answer,
04:31 you mentioned the age issue, that she was on her way to retirement.
04:36 So, maybe you can think of the Paris Olympics as the last dance,
04:40 which is a term they like to use.
04:42 - The last dance. - Yes, in the spots.
04:45 It's obvious that you just said that there's no way to think ahead
04:48 without living the present, but if you imagine your career
04:51 going to retirement, possibly the Paris Olympics
04:56 would be the way to end it with the golden key.
05:00 For sure, thinking about the Brazilian national team,
05:03 it will be my last dance, the last dance.
05:07 That's why I'm putting so much energy to try to get that spot.
05:12 There's no way to continue,
05:15 because, first, there are new and very good players coming,
05:21 and I think we have to respect our bodies.
05:24 Today I know that, even though I love what I do,
05:28 and I'm very happy to be on the court,
05:30 I know we have a limit.
05:33 And thinking about the future,
05:36 I'm already thinking about it, little by little,
05:39 I don't have anything clear yet,
05:41 I want to do this, but I have some paths that are opening me,
05:45 that are opening me to the doors,
05:47 and I'm already thinking about my retirement.
05:49 So, I think, not maybe in the post,
05:51 but in a segment of my career,
05:53 so I don't have so much longing,
05:55 as I'll feel when I retire.
05:58 So, the Brazilian national team will be my last dance.
