00:00 What's your big goal?
00:02 I want to be an astronaut.
00:03 We have a liftoff.
00:05 This movie is a true story.
00:09 I play Jose who grew up in the fields
00:11 and for the better part of his childhood was a farmer.
00:14 And he had the dream from early on to be an astronaut.
00:18 Nothing will stop you.
00:20 Remember that.
00:21 It is about the journey of a migrant farm worker
00:25 who achieves something amazing.
00:27 We don't get to see much stories like this.
00:30 Maybe this is not his future, but it will always be his past.
00:34 Michael comes from an immigrant family
00:36 so he totally understands what it is to follow a dream.
00:39 I waited for almost 30 years, so...
00:41 Is it worth it?
00:43 Oh yeah.
00:44 You think you've done enough?
00:47 Maybe you need to try even harder.
00:49 My parents worked in the fields and it's a rough life.
00:53 And like Jose's parents, they had the discipline
00:56 to keep doing what they were doing
00:58 because their ultimate goal was for us to get a good education.
01:01 Things could be easier.
01:02 Hard work.
01:04 But nah.
01:05 I am a first generation Latin American woman.
01:08 My father walked to America from Peru.
01:11 That sort of tenacity is baked into your genetic code.
01:15 It's so much a part of why we're a strong people.
01:18 I've applied to the space program 12 times.
01:20 So you can turn me down again, but rest assured
01:22 I'll be standing here again in a year.
01:24 As a Chicano, as somebody that grew up in America, being brown,
01:27 hearing a story like that is very inspiring
01:29 because it tells you, literally, you can reach for the stars, you know?
01:32 Who better than a migrant?
01:34 Somebody that knows what it's like to dive into the unknown.
01:39 I'm very excited that the project's been shot in Mexico.
01:46 And... action!
01:48 We have some of the most talented Mexican people in production,
01:52 both in front of and behind the camera.
01:54 If we bring it here, it's gonna help the industry.
01:59 It's gonna bring authenticity
02:01 because the teams that are working on the film
02:04 will know what we're talking about.
02:06 And I want people to see how diverse Mexican culture is.
02:10 We grew up watching our people make sacrifices.
02:13 It's on us now.
02:15 Immigrants make it happen, not despite,
02:19 but because of where we came from.
02:21 If this could be an inspiration to anyone,
02:24 dreams can come true, you know?
02:25 I hope that more movies like this are made for Latin people
02:29 and for people to see that there's a lot of universal movies
02:32 that come from the Latin community.
02:34 I'm just so proud to be a part of this.
02:36 Five, four, three, two...
