00:00 >> Whatever's left, it's weird.
00:06 I think what is it, eight out of the 12 schools are in the top 25?
00:11 Apparently it's a failed conference.
00:12 So the last ride out is gonna be a good one.
00:16 >> You have a small sample size with the new quarterback, Bryce Young.
00:21 But what have you seen from him and
00:22 confident are your guys' ability to kind of disrupt him?
00:26 >> I feel like he looks poised in the pocket.
00:29 I think Carolina's gonna have a game plan set to make sure that he's confident
00:34 heading into this game.
00:35 And I'm sure from what we watched of their first game with him,
00:41 there's times where he looks like a veteran quarterback.
00:43 And of course, there's times where he doesn't.
00:45 But that has nothing to do with what we wanna do.
00:48 We're trying to impose our will on any offense that we come across.
00:51 And it's gonna be up to us to try and make him uncomfortable in that pocket.
00:54 >> When you're going?
00:55 >> I don't know, it's his second game.
00:58 Let's figure this out together.
00:59 >> We're rapidly formulating the plan.
01:02 And by Sunday we'll have it and be able to execute it.
01:06 >> When you're in- >> Sorry, go ahead.
01:07 >> I was gonna say when you watch him in college, I'm guessing, right?
01:11 >> You guys have the same question.
01:12 >> Yeah, right, yeah.
01:13 When you watch him in college, is there anything that you take away from that
01:16 versus the limited film that you have of him in the preseason?
01:19 >> I mean, we all know how excellent he was in college,
01:21 where he liked to escape.
01:22 But it's the league, so things, people get faster, stronger.
01:25 Everybody's an athlete.
01:26 And now you don't have a full round, a first round off of the linemen.
01:31 You don't have three top five picks as wide receivers.
01:35 So there's different nuances to the game that he has to go through.
01:38 I think he still has Miles Sanders back there, Chubba Hubbard.
01:42 He still has weapons that he can use and utilize.
01:44 And I think he tried to do that the first game.
01:46 And he'll continue to grow.
01:48 I dislike playing rookies because you don't know what you're gonna get.
01:50 You'd rather play a veteran quarterback where he has tendencies or
01:53 where he has his advantages and disadvantages.
01:57 You'd rather deal with the devil you know than the devil you don't know.
01:59 I think it's the same.
02:01 I'd rather not deal with any devil.
02:02 But continue.
02:03 >> Do you like going to Carolina and fans get chirpy with you?
02:07 I mean, you got a lot of history there.
02:08 >> No, that's not a thing.
02:09 >> That's not a thing.
02:11 Carolina chirpy?
02:12 No, no, there was Cam Newton in Carolina.
02:14 They got chirpy.
02:15 But every couple years, it feels like there's gonna be a new rival
02:18 with the Twin Saints.
02:19 But it's always like they're arriving with us and not the other way around.
02:23 Somebody brought it to my attention, we lost to them twice and
02:25 they didn't even hit me last year.
02:26 I was like, we lost to them twice?
02:27 Did not care.
02:30 I'm trying to win each and every one game this year.
02:32 So I'm focused on this year.
02:34 And we have to go to their place on a Monday night.
02:38 Whatever that means is what we have to go to.
02:41 I don't care if it's in a bar or on the field.
02:43 We gotta go play them.
02:44 They gotta come see us.
02:45 >> Obviously, it being an NFC South game,
02:47 how important is it to get off to a good start?
02:49 >> Each and every one of these games is important.
02:50 It's not about just the NFC South.
02:51 I don't just wanna beat three teams two times for a six piece.
02:55 I'm trying to go 17 and 0.
02:56 Now, can I get to 17?
02:57 I don't know, but I'm always striving for perfection.
02:59 I'd love to go 17 and 0.
03:01 And it starts with this upcoming week.
03:02 >> Yeah, do you remember last time you all played?
03:05 >> I don't remember last season.
03:07 I'm focused on this season.
03:09 Once the season ends, there's a couple games I've already like, yeah,
03:12 we beat them and we didn't.
03:13 Or we might have lost them and we beat them.
03:15 I don't care about last season.
03:16 I'm focused on this season.
03:17 So I know we had, what, three sacks this last game, four sacks this last game.
03:23 And we've got room to grow.
03:25 We're trying to become a better defense.
03:26 I know we had three interceptions from our DBs last game.
03:29 I'd love for them to top that performance from last game.
03:31 But I think they've got a great backfield and they have a number one overall pick.
03:35 Who's getting tootled is probably Andy Dalton over here,
03:38 who knows our offensive regions quite well, which doesn't make me feel happy.
03:41 But it is what it is.
03:42 We have to go in there and play our ball.
03:44 Cuz when we play our ball, it doesn't matter who we play against.
03:46 >> When we asked Coach Woods about losing Peyton Turner,
03:50 he said that's why we drafted Foskey.
03:51 What gives you confidence in Foskey as a rookie?
03:55 He hasn't proved himself in a game yet, but what are the-
03:58 >> There's time to grow.
03:59 There's plenty of time to grow.
04:01 I think with myself on a defensive end and then Carl Brandesen on the other side,
04:07 it's not like we need immediate impact right now and he's able to grow into our
04:10 defense.
04:11 If Coach Woods said he's gonna be ready, then I believe he's gonna be ready.
04:15 There's nothing in him that, Foskey gives all his energy at practice.
04:19 We see what we see out of him.
04:21 And I think that's something that we can develop.
04:23 We can develop somebody like Isaiah who has a high IQ and wants to get better.
04:28 >> You used to call him Foskey, now you're calling him Foskey.
04:30 >> Foskey, Foskey.
04:32 Hey, it's Zay when he starts really balling.
04:35 If I'm calling him Zay on the sidelines, you know he's in his bag.
