00:00 After more than a year, the mysterious disappearance of the soap operators in Manila Cockpit Arena is slowly being resolved.
00:07 Patrick De Jesus reports.
00:09 The six men who were in front of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Camp Kramik yesterday were released one by one.
00:22 They are the suspects in the disappearance of six soap operators in Manila Cockpit Arena last year, January 13, 2022.
00:33 The last seen were John Claude Inonug, Marlon and James Bakay, Mark Joseph Velasco, Ron Del Cristorum, and Roel Gomez,
00:44 and the other witnesses, based on the testimony of a vital witness, who saw them being driven by security personnel of Manila Cockpit Arena in a gray van in the basement of the soap factory.
00:56 Among these security personnel were those found by the CIDG yesterday in the vicinity of the arrest warrant.
01:04 The suspects were identified as Julie Patitongan alias Dondon, Mark Carlos Abala, Virgilio Bayug, Roberto Matiliano Jr., John Rick Consolacion, and Guillermo Codilla.
01:16 According to the CIDG, the group's arrest was not easy, especially since they moved from place to place.
01:23 But with the help of the increased surveillance in the past two months, the suspects were also followed to their safe house in Paranaque City.
01:33 It is a very challenging activity. That's why we had a break. We were able to have a sub-list of where they are.
01:46 Just three days ago, we were able to track them. So a lot of confirmatory activities that we are doing.
01:54 In the arrest of the six suspects, it seems that the police only proved their promise to the family of the suspects, who were pursued in solving the case.
02:04 I hope that with the arrest of these suspects, those who were reportedly back out as a witness may be convinced or reconsidered their position.
02:17 I do believe that the case is still strong. We have enough evidence also that will continue with the case even with these witnesses who back out.
02:28 As of now, 34 suspects have been arrested since 2021 from various locations in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Laguna, and Batangas.
02:40 The kidnapping and serious illegal detention against the arrested are being prepared.
