00:00 One thing a lot of us appreciate in video games
00:02 is the opportunity to customize
00:04 what our character is wearing.
00:05 This can be a form of self-expression
00:07 or maybe wanting said character to look absolutely badass.
00:11 Not all attires are readily available from the start though
00:14 and in this list, we're gonna be looking at
00:16 10 of the rarest costumes in video games.
00:18 I'm Jess from WhatCulture
00:20 and here are the rarest video game costumes
00:22 nobody unlocked.
00:24 Number eight, Golden Quiet.
00:26 Metal Gear Solid V, The Phantom Pain.
00:28 Metal Gear Solid V, The Phantom Pain
00:30 was released back in 2015,
00:32 not long after the teaser Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes
00:35 launched onto consoles in 2014.
00:38 Quiet, the mute companion of Snake in Metal Gear Solid V
00:41 has quite a few different outfits you can unlock.
00:43 From being coated in silver paint
00:45 to gearing up in all tactical wear,
00:47 Quiet has an outfit for every occasion.
00:49 Long-time fans of Hideo Kojima will be aware
00:52 that he's a huge fan of the James Bond films.
00:54 So naturally, one of the more slippery outfits to get
00:57 comes in the form of a nod to the movie Goldfinger.
01:00 The outfit involves Quiet being painted
01:02 head to toe in gold,
01:04 very reminiscent of a particular scene.
01:06 In order to get this one,
01:07 you will have to max Quiet's Bond level,
01:10 Bond, you get it, to 100%,
01:12 meaning it is no small feat.
01:14 You'll be taking Quiet with you
01:15 on the vast majority of the missions to get that Bond up,
01:18 something a lot of players might not manage to do
01:21 in their initial playthrough.
01:22 On top of the Bond being maxed out,
01:24 you'll also need to pay 570,000 currency
01:28 and have an R&D level of 22.
01:30 Number seven, look at the buns on Chris.
01:33 Resident Evil is no stranger to bizarre
01:35 and downright absurd costumes,
01:37 which you can unlock for the many different characters
01:39 throughout the series.
01:40 Usually, the more skimpy and strange ones
01:43 are reserved for the ladies.
01:44 For example, Jill's revealing unlockable outfit
01:47 from Resident Evil, Deadly Silence.
01:49 Capcom did make it up to players at long last
01:51 in Resident Evil Revelations, though.
01:54 The tables here were finally turned on Chris Redfield,
01:56 making a nice change.
01:58 If players were able to amass a total of 100,000 points
02:01 from a single run in Raid mode,
02:03 they'd be awarded this beautiful sailor outfit.
02:06 I do say outfit here in the loosest possible terms.
02:09 This stunning little sailor getup
02:11 is accompanied by a set of white gloves,
02:13 a sailor hat, and some cheeky tattoos,
02:15 all of which help to pull
02:17 this very revealing sailor costume together.
02:19 So move over, Jill,
02:20 you are no longer the hottest one on this boat.
02:22 Number six, Xenoblade Chronicles, Zelda Breath of the Wild.
02:26 The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
02:28 has Link running around and exploring
02:30 a huge, sprawling world
02:31 filled with treasures and mysteries to uncover.
02:34 You'll spend many hours fighting, grafting,
02:36 exploring, and scavenging
02:38 to fully complete all the game has to offer.
02:40 That doesn't even include
02:41 all the DLC the game has to offer either.
02:44 One of these is a DLC you probably missed,
02:46 but it is available for free on the Nintendo Store.
02:49 When installed, it unlocks a mission
02:51 to find the unique outfit, the Salvager Set.
02:54 This snazzy little getup was part of a cross-promotion
02:56 with Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
02:58 Once all set, there will be three separate locations
03:01 you need to go to.
03:02 These locations must be approached
03:03 at just after 9 p.m. in-game,
03:06 or the events won't trigger.
03:07 When those requirements are fulfilled,
03:09 you'll notice a red shooting star
03:10 falling into certain locations around Hyrule.
03:13 When they land, a red column of light
03:15 will shine bright into the sky,
03:17 leading you to a unique set of red treasure chests.
03:20 Select all three to unlock this exclusive outfit.
03:23 Each piece increases the player's swim speed,
03:25 and wearing all three at the same time
03:27 grants an additional bonus.
03:28 Number five, Mileena's Flesh Pits, Mortal Kombat 2011.
03:32 Mortal Kombat 9, or just Mortal Kombat
03:34 as the game likes to brand itself,
03:36 was released in 2011 on various platforms.
03:39 Making your way through the story mode
03:41 will have you meeting and interacting
03:42 with a wide selection of characters,
03:44 as well as inevitably kicking their asses to the curb.
03:47 Whilst playing as Kitana,
03:48 you'll eventually enter a fight against Mileena.
03:51 She'll be in a very revealing outfit
03:53 known as the Flesh Pit outfit,
03:55 essentially just some strategically placed
03:57 bloodstained bandages that barely cover
03:59 the most intimate parts of her body.
04:01 To unlock it for yourself,
04:02 it'll take a little bit of legwork.
04:04 Okay, it's gonna take a lot of legwork.
04:06 Mileena's skimpy getup can be unlocked
04:08 by finishing the momentous task
04:10 of beating floor 300 of the Challenge Tower,
04:13 which is reserved for master players only.
04:16 Number four, Mario and Luigi costumes,
04:19 Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.
04:20 Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate was released
04:22 on the Nintendo 3DS back in October 2014,
04:25 with a wide array of awesome and unique outfits
04:28 to unlock in its world.
04:29 However, none are as fashionable or as funky
04:32 as the outfits you can pick up for Mario and Luigi
04:35 as part of the Starter Pack that released in 2015.
04:38 The Starter Pack DLC contains the ability
04:40 to make either Mario or Luigi's outfit
04:43 for the Palico, your little cat companion.
04:45 Unfortunately, there were not enough materials
04:47 given to be able to create both outfits,
04:50 so players would have to choose between
04:51 the iconic plumber or the iconic ghost hunter.
04:54 Sadly on this one, the DLC was only available
04:57 for a limited time, so if you didn't get it back then,
04:59 you're not gonna be able to get it now.
05:01 The DLC was a big promotional opportunity
05:03 for both Mario and Monster Hunter,
05:05 something Nintendo loves to do with their IPs.
05:08 Just look at the Zelda and Xenoblade event
05:10 from Breath of the Wild as an example.
05:12 Number three, Dead or Alive 5.
05:14 Dead or Alive 5 was released onto multiple platforms
05:16 on September 25th of 2012.
05:19 Players would soon discover just how hard
05:21 it was gonna be unlocking all of the options
05:23 for the ladies of DOA.
05:25 Anybody wanting these rare outfits
05:27 would have to put the work in as they're no easy feat.
05:30 To unlock these outfits, you're gonna have to have luck
05:33 and skill on your side.
05:34 You'll be playing on the seventh difficulty setting,
05:37 known as Legendary, the hardest in the game.
05:40 Expect to get counted, thrown, and beaten
05:42 like you never knew possible.
05:44 You also have to be playing in either time attack
05:46 or arcade mode for the outfits to appear.
05:49 Once the costume has finally graced your screen,
05:51 you must beat the fighter
05:52 and finish up the rest of the game mode.
05:55 This is gonna be difficult to do on its own,
05:57 but just to rub salt in the wound,
05:59 there's only a 30% chance for the outfit
06:01 to even unlock upon completion.
06:04 So expect a lot of frustration and many, many playthroughs
06:07 until you get the desired outfit you want.
06:09 Number two, Altair, Metal Gear Solid 4.
06:12 Metal Gear Solid 4, Guns of the Patriots
06:14 has an excellent costume you can unlock,
06:17 and it actually began as an April Fool's joke
06:19 from Hideo Kojima to fans.
06:21 The outfit in question was the cloak and hood
06:23 worn by famed assassin Altair from Assassin's Creed.
06:27 The joke then quickly became reality,
06:29 much to the delight of fans everywhere,
06:31 when Kojima actually placed Altair's cloak in the game
06:34 as an unlockable outfit.
06:36 To get this marvelous outfit added to the collection,
06:38 you're gonna have to undertake quite the task.
06:41 First, you'll just need to complete the game
06:43 at any difficulty that pleases you, easy enough.
06:46 Alongside that, though, you'll also have to execute
06:49 50 kills with the knife, perform a CQC hold
06:52 on 50 different people, and perhaps most difficult of all,
06:55 get 24 or fewer alerts, all in a single playthrough.
07:00 Do all of this, though, and you'll be rewarded
07:02 with the outfit after the credits finish.
07:04 Number one, Mime of War, God of War, Chains of Olympus.
07:08 God of War, Chains of Olympus
07:10 is a PlayStation Portable game
07:11 that was released back in 2008.
07:14 The game would get re-released onto PlayStation 3 in 2011
07:17 in a bundle with the other PSP God of War game,
07:20 Ghost of Sparta.
07:21 There's a vast array of outfits to unlock
07:23 while players adventure away with Kratos.
07:26 One of the most ridiculous looking and hardest to get
07:28 is the Mime of War outfit,
07:31 which does exactly what it says on the tin.
07:33 Kratos will adorn a mime outfit.
07:35 For players looking to add this outrageous outfit
07:37 to their wardrobe, you're going to need
07:39 to complete the game on God difficulty,
07:41 which is the hardest difficulty.
07:43 When the mime outfit is worn,
07:45 players will see that all their weapons,
07:47 such as the Blades of Chaos, Gauntlet of Zeus,
07:49 and Sunshield, are turned completely invisible,
07:52 showing only gloved hands in their place.
07:54 The outfit also grants players a massive boost
07:57 to the red orbs that can be obtained from combos,
07:59 which is very handy.
08:00 It's just a shame that players will already have had
08:02 to complete the game on the hardest difficulty
08:04 before gaining access to that little buff.
08:06 That's the end of our list,
08:07 but let me know down in that comment section
08:09 if you can think of any other extremely rare costumes
08:12 you reckon pretty much nobody was able to unlock.
08:15 Thanks so much for hanging out with me.
08:16 As always, I've been Jess from WhatCulture.
