00:04 -Overall
00:08 to hold them for what you guys did, how good was the effort on defense
00:12 today? -It was good. Good effort. Endurance game
00:16 I knew it was gonna be a game of outlasting them. Caught a lot of turnovers
00:20 at the end of the day. You had to outlast that team. Long plays
00:24 or whether long drives you had to outlast them. You didn't come up with the W.
00:28 -It was a missed opportunity. -We was right there and they knew it. The other team knew it.
00:32 The other team knew it. When they got up that's when they got a little
00:36 chippy. They finally took a little deep breath and decided to do what they do.
00:40 They felt it for sure. -How did it feel for you guys to create
00:44 frustration with Pat Mahomes? -It was frustrating.
00:48 It was good but they were able to point up at the scoreboard
00:52 and say check the scoreboard. It hurts. It hurts. It's plays here
00:56 and there. You gotta outlast that team because it's gonna be a four quarter
01:00 bout and you gotta be able to come up with the win in the end no matter how it looks.
01:04 -Does that give you confidence moving forward in the season and maybe even late in the season?
01:08 -Confidence? -Yeah does it give you even more confidence? -We was confident in ourselves
01:12 before the season started because whatever the stats were for our defense
01:16 looking last year, some reporter asked me, one of y'all,
01:20 some reporter asked me what do you think the defense is gonna bring to this team?
01:25 We got something to prove every week. Something to prove every weekend. We was there with the turnovers.
01:29 We gotta outlast that team. We gotta outlast other teams, be cleaner in the game,
01:33 handle hurry up in the game. There's plays left out there that we can clean up.
01:37 Confidence for sure. We was out there proving what we know we can do. -When you say we are you talking
01:41 about defense? Who are you talking about? -The whole team.
01:45 -The whole team? -The team. We was right there. We together. Everybody.
01:49 We was right there. Everybody clean up what they gotta do. We right there.
01:53 -How much confidence do you have in the offense to find a rhythm?
01:57 -Confidence? They're explosive. Off day to day
02:01 they'll fix it. We got a lot of players on that team. We seen it all
02:05 training camp. Makes us better. We know they're gonna fix it. We just do our job.
02:09 And as a team we gonna pull out this game in the end. -How do you think the linebacking
02:13 court did with Kelsey today? I know he's coming off the injury but... -How did he do? I don't know what's happening.
02:17 -He had like four or five catches? -He was frustrated and then when he
02:21 came up at the end he was able to point at the scoreboard. But they were frustrated
02:25 as a team. I think. They're gonna say whatever they say
02:29 on the other side. We was right there. We have to be able to outlast them.
02:33 -What are you guys doing so well in defense in these two weeks?
02:37 -Coach Bob Sutton taking the ball away. Shout out to Coach Bob. Taking the ball away. Making teams
02:41 drive the field on us. Obviously those two
02:45 drives they did score. It was an extra in there I believe. We gotta do better
02:49 than that. Take that away. Everybody hustling. To the ball. Let's tackle better as a team
02:53 this year and try to keep taking that ball away. -Is there still one more
02:57 step to go? You guys have done so many courts but I'm saying in terms of
03:01 beating a team like this, a team that's been there before. -Like I said we gotta outlast. Every play
03:06 is important. Every drive is important. When you have those opportunities
03:10 take advantage of everything. That's how to be the best of the best. Every game gonna be
03:14 not every game gonna be pretty. When it's a gritty grimy game but one play
03:18 there you gotta be able to come up with a win. We didn't do that today so that's on us.
03:22 -Korey how would you evaluate the defense on Travis Nelson in particular? -I really don't
03:26 know his stats. I think we did a good job of making them drive the field and I feel like as a team
03:30 they were frustrated on offense. I'm sitting there next to him a lot of plays
03:34 and he's over there and you know what I'm saying. When he was up
03:38 they were able to point at the scoreboard like I keep saying and then they were very happy.
03:42 We gotta do better. -Did you feel like compared
03:46 to last year at the two meetings this defense took a step forward in terms of
03:50 countering their offense? -I feel like we had a good plan. There's always a step
03:54 for us to go. Obviously there's plays out there for us to make that we didn't make. Myself
03:58 I'm over here kicking myself. As a team I feel like we did good.
04:02 We forced turnovers, made a drive the field, holding the low points but we was just there
04:06 last year basically the same thing. There's plays here and there that we have to make in order to be in a season like this.
04:10 -Could you talk a little bit about how difficult it is to keep the homes in check
04:14 the whole game long. There's always gonna be two or three plays that he just
04:18 makes. On that last pass you got some pressure on him but
04:22 he just delayed just for a second. -That's what he does. He's good at that.
04:26 That's what he puts on tape week in week out. At the end of the day when you put
04:30 in those positions you have to make those plays in order to beat that team. I did not make that play
04:34 and now we're sitting here. I have to get better. The team has to get better.
04:38 We're gonna do it together. -How much do you think that this game will not
04:42 define this team? -It's a long season. We're fighting. That's what you
04:47 gotta take away from this game. We fight no matter who we play all the way to the end.
04:51 We got more weeks to correct it. Houston, right?
04:55 -Yep. -Let's play. -Thanks guys. Appreciate it. -Thank you for you.
04:59 for you.
