00:00 Following a few good years of Battle Royale games dominating the market, the last year
00:05 or two have belonged to the Souls-like genre, and Lies of P by developer NeoWiz Games and
00:11 Round 8 Studio is the latest in the exploding trend.
00:15 While this game might seem a little too much like Elden Ring at times, it's got plenty
00:20 to it that keeps it unique.
00:23 IGN reports one of the ways it does set itself apart is with its story, which is a dark reimagining
00:29 of Carlo Collodi's Pinocchio, a story about a mischievous puppet known for telling falsehoods
00:35 and longing to become a real boy.
00:37 Lies of P's version takes a lot of liberty in its much more gory and depressing version
00:43 of the classic tale.
00:45 Lies of P also has a few mechanics that help set the game apart from other Souls-like games.
00:51 According to DualShockers, one such example is that you have your robotic legion arm that
00:56 comes with unique abilities to supplement your combat, be it a strong punch or a ranged
01:02 grenade attack.
01:03 You get a couple of uses with it per use of a respawn point, providing some good utility
01:09 and extra damage.
01:11 But with well-executed Souls-like action, some fresh ideas, a solid map full of places
01:16 to explore and travel to, beautiful design and impressive worldbuilding, this story is
01:22 one that is well worth checking out.
01:24 Lies of P comes out September 19th and is available on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC.
