00:00 Meet the new Motorola Edge+.
00:08 This is truly Motorola's flagship for 2023, so let's go take a closer look.
00:13 As Motorola's flagship, the Edge+ gets pretty much the most premium design offered across
00:17 the company's portfolio.
00:19 It has what Motorola calls an "endless edge" design with a curved chassis, but what's
00:23 really nice about it is the velvety anti-glare rear that feels amazing in the hand and didn't
00:28 really attract any fingerprints when I used it.
00:30 The sandblasted aluminum frame also looked very nice and you get Gorilla Glass Victus
00:35 on the front and back.
00:36 Pair that with an IPX8 waterproof rating and the phone should have the durability most
00:40 users need.
00:42 Taking a closer look at the display, this is a 6.7-inch Full HD P-OLED display with
00:47 Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and a killer 165Hz refresh rate.
00:52 This screen was just incredibly snappy, whether it was scrolling a website or, more importantly,
00:57 gaming.
00:58 If I wanted to immerse myself in the gameplay sound or simply stream videos, the device's
01:03 stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support establish a decent soundstage for a phone.
01:08 Content capture is a big highlight of the Edge+.
01:11 It features a 50MP main sensor with image stabilization, a 50MP combined ultra-wide
01:17 and macro sensor, a 12MP sensor with 2x telephoto for portrait mode, and a 60MP selfie camera.
01:25 New quad-pixel technology should produce better low-light photos, but that's something
01:29 we'll have to take a closer look at in the full review.
01:32 For now, I enjoyed testing some of the new modes in portrait, including a wide at 35mm
01:37 and a close-up at 85mm.
01:39 At a glance, the rest of the photos I took looked pretty sharp.
01:42 In terms of video capture, the Edge+ has some cool new tools, including night vision for
01:46 brighter footage in low-light, a horizon lock feature to keep shots stabilized on the horizon,
01:51 autofocus tracking that locks onto a subject as the object is in motion, and video portrait
01:56 for soft focus around the subject.
01:59 These are the kind of features that we see on some of Motorola's premium competitors,
02:02 just to put things in perspective.
02:04 To that point, the Edge+'s performance is powered by the latest-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen2,
02:09 which tests for 40% greater power efficiency than before.
02:13 So, the Edge+'s 5100mAh battery capacity promises two days of battery life.
02:19 Of course, we need to run our battery tests to see how the stamina stacks up against continuous
02:23 web surfing, but Motorola phones do typically offer solid battery life.
02:28 When the phone needs juice, it gets 68W wired charging that claims to charge the phone for
02:32 a full day in just 9 minutes, plus 15W wireless charging and support for reverse wireless
02:38 charging.
02:39 The Motorola Edge+ is shipping with Android 13 and will get 3 years of OS upgrades, plus
02:44 4 years of security updates.
02:46 We're looking at 8GB of RAM plus 512GB of storage, wrapped up into a $799 package that's
02:54 actually $100 less than the Edge+ in 2022.
02:58 So does it seem like the Moto Edge+ can keep up with the rest of this year's flagships?
