00:00 I'm going to give you instructions, okay?
00:01 Let's have a nice clean fight, okay?
00:02 Listen to my instructions, okay?
00:04 Have a good fight.
00:04 Catch gloves.
00:05 All the best, guys.
00:06 - I reckon, for a beauty to start our night,
00:11 Hayes Heria and Mike Ravetti.
00:14 Andy Raymond alongside the devilishly good-looking
00:17 Nathan DeCarlo in commentary.
00:19 Ace Boxing, doing what they do best.
00:22 And living proof, you don't need to have the biggest venue,
00:26 the biggest prize, or the brightest lights.
00:29 They match fights like no one else.
00:32 And that has been the case for 20-something years
00:34 here in Southeast Queensland.
00:37 Hayes Heria in the white and the blue.
00:41 Mike Ravetti in the black and the gold.
00:44 Here with a 2-1 record on the back foot here
00:54 with the height and reach.
00:56 The advantage is the taller, he's the longer fighter.
01:00 It comes as no surprise, Nate, that Mike Ravetti
01:04 in the black trunks with the nickname Mad Dog
01:08 is going to want to get on your chest,
01:09 get on the inside, and just punch away.
01:12 - Well, Andy's been in this sport a very, very long time.
01:15 This is actually his second fight back
01:17 from a very, very long break.
01:19 I think his previous fight before his last
01:21 was back in 2009.
01:23 So that's sort of going back a fair bit.
01:26 He did score an impressive knockout victory
01:28 in his comeback fight.
01:29 So he'll be more than confident here against Hayes
01:32 with only three fights under his belt.
01:34 Be interesting to see how this one goes.
01:36 - Good story, isn't it, Micah?
01:38 So long out of the sport.
01:41 We're talking over a decade.
01:44 Comes back as a mature age athlete
01:47 and says, "Why not? Why not?"
01:49 It's not always about what you accomplish in the ring
01:51 or how many wins, how many losses.
01:54 It's about the discipline you gain.
01:56 It's about the changes you make in your lifestyle.
01:58 - Well, Micah actually fought alongside me a few times.
02:02 So that shows you how long ago he was fighting.
02:06 He went away on a couple of teams with me back in the day,
02:09 in the early period of our careers.
02:11 So yeah, he's been in the sport a very, very long time.
02:14 - Nathan De Carlo from the Fighting De Carlo family.
02:20 Going all the way back,
02:22 dating three generations to old knackerbags De Carlo
02:25 in Sicily.
02:26 Korea.
02:31 Hands high.
02:33 Elbows in.
02:35 We're at Southport Sharks,
02:40 a venue with great tradition in combat sport.
02:44 I recall being here for Carly Mee and Michael Kirby
02:47 back in the day.
02:48 Probably showing my age here, Nate, as well.
02:50 Probably looking at 20 years.
02:52 I'm hell bent on the fact John Wayne Parr fought here
02:57 and of course his daughter fights here tonight.
03:01 - Yeah, it was always a really big venue
03:04 back in the early nineties, that's for sure.
03:05 With the Southport Sharks,
03:07 hopefully we find a home for it again.
03:09 With these great local fights once again,
03:12 as you can see Hayes coming on.
03:14 Oh, very good uppercut there.
03:16 Just catching Micah as he's coming in.
03:20 There's a good hook there from Micah.
03:22 - Nice strike right hand from Hayes.
03:25 Very grand.
03:28 Interesting round, really interesting round.
03:35 A feel out then.
03:37 Hayes sort of asserting his authority a little bit late
03:40 in the opening round.
03:41 - Yeah, just a little bit more active Andy.
03:43 I think the younger fighter at this stage,
03:45 hopefully Micah starts warming up this next round.
03:49 It's only a five round of this opening bout,
03:51 so there's not too much room to move.
03:54 There's not too many rounds you can drop, I should say.
03:56 So as we can see some highlights here from that first round
04:00 and yeah, Hayes, sorry, I should say.
04:03 Probably had the best of that round.
04:07 Just was throwing more shots.
04:08 There was a couple of good shots there from Micah,
04:10 but it's a little bit more of the activity
04:13 coming from the man in the red corner.
04:15 (crowd cheering)
04:18 - Oxmar Properties, one of our many, many great sponsors
04:24 here at the Ace Boxing Group.
04:25 Love to welcome Ryan Howlett and Pro-Ed Civil
04:29 as a part of the team and here in big numbers tonight,
04:32 supporting Ace.
04:34 Here we go round number two on the Oxworks school car.
04:43 (crowd cheering)
04:46 - Check out the banners and check out the sponsors
04:48 of your local fight night.
04:49 These are the companies that help keep nurturing the stars
04:53 and bringing you the local action.
04:54 Support those that support our wonderful sport.
04:58 Left hand there.
05:00 Was met about double from Hayes.
05:11 Dominating that center in position.
05:13 Micah just continually shuffles forward
05:16 and he gets into the chest and attacks to the body initially
05:19 with the right hand, the left hand,
05:21 he's trying to hook in over the top.
05:23 - Yeah, he's thrown three big looping right hands
05:25 and they've all scored so far, Micah.
05:27 So he's found a home for it.
05:29 So I think you'll see it plenty more this round.
05:32 - Pushing the glove, trying to double up
05:38 that left jab is Micah.
05:41 (crowd cheering)
05:42 Oh, good shot there from Micah Ravetti straight to the body.
05:46 - There is nothing quite like the echo
05:49 around an auditorium or venue.
05:51 Body shot and it is sickening.
05:55 Hayes over the top.
06:01 That's a couple of times now.
06:05 They look like a new set of wheels
06:07 or a new set of boots on Micah.
06:10 But that right boot of his has given way a couple of times.
06:15 I just wonder if he's having issues with traction there.
06:18 A wild shots from the mad dog.
06:24 - Standing very flat footed is Micah Ravetti.
06:30 You can see planting his whole foot on the ground
06:32 and that's a, oh, just off court there.
06:35 And that's probably why, because his legs are planted.
06:39 - To the canvas at the moment.
06:41 He's not moving quick enough
06:42 and he can't get out of harm's way.
06:44 And you can see he's just unloaded a barrage of punches
06:47 there, Hayes here.
06:47 - They separate.
06:52 40 odd seconds remaining in round number two.
06:56 - Yeah, very heavy on the feet.
07:03 I've noticed this round, I don't know if it's a,
07:05 is it a comeback or what it is,
07:07 or just Micah just showing his age,
07:09 but he's already very heavy on those feet.
07:11 You can see both feet just planted to the floor.
07:15 There's no, not on his toes whatsoever.
07:18 So it's a very easy target, but when Hayes comes forward,
07:22 makes it very hard for Micah to move out of the way
07:26 quick enough.
07:27 - Hayes been really disciplined here
07:28 because when you hurt your opponent,
07:30 obviously you want to move in and try and capitalize,
07:33 but by doing that, you're actually playing
07:35 into the hands of the mad dog, Micah Ravetti.
07:40 And Hayes has decided against that.
07:41 He's maintaining his game plan.
07:43 They go back to the corners to end round number two.
07:48 - Yeah, very mature performance so far from Hayes
07:51 having his fourth fight here tonight.
07:52 Like you said, only three fights previous to tonight.
07:55 And like you also said, I mean,
07:58 usually people, once they've got their opponent hurt,
08:00 they'll rush in, especially with the little experience
08:03 he has, but he hasn't done that tonight.
08:05 As you can see some of these highlights
08:07 of the previous round, just picking his shots.
08:10 A very, very mature performance so far from Hayes here.
08:13 - Our referee in this one is Philip Holliday.
08:20 Our three ringside judges are Rodney Marsh,
08:22 Phil Gregory and Paul Williams.
08:24 - Let's go, trainers, let's go.
08:26 Stand in the corner, stand in the corner.
08:29 - Round number three coming your way.
08:32 (bell dings)
08:34 Doubling up with the left hand to start the round is Hayes.
08:42 Five three-minute rounds of the journey.
08:47 Sponsored by Oxworks and Hanay Lawyers.
08:51 I'd like to also thank Wandless Waste Management,
08:54 Action Metal Recyclers and UltraTune, our major sponsors.
08:59 (crowd cheering)
09:02 A lot of our sponsors based in South East Queensland,
09:08 some a little closer to the Gold Coast than Brisbane,
09:10 so that means a lot.
09:11 We're here at the northern end of the strip tonight.
09:14 Two minutes remaining in round number three.
09:25 (crowd cheering)
09:28 I think a disciplined performance, this from Hayes.
09:31 - Yeah, yeah, definitely so.
09:34 Mike is very upright, you can see in his stance.
09:36 He's a big target to hit and that's why Hayes,
09:39 every time he's throwing, he's connecting
09:40 because you can choose between the body and the head
09:44 because like I said, it's a very big target at the moment.
09:46 Just sitting too upright is Mike Rovetti.
09:49 - Hayes with a two-one record.
09:54 Victories, I think he beat Billy Lima
09:56 on, when he was on debut, he beat Malakai Marama
10:01 and lost to tonight's main eventer in Dan Hill,
10:07 perhaps even his last fight, late 2022.
10:12 - It was, it was his last fight.
10:14 Like you said, lost to Dan Hill,
10:16 who is the main eventer tonight,
10:17 so obviously no shame in that one.
10:19 And you can see he's a good, very polished fighter.
10:24 (crowd chattering)
10:27 - We've got a Queensland title, an Australasian,
10:35 an Australian and the Losing of the World title
10:38 up for grabs tonight.
10:39 Now, four main events.
10:50 - Mike, and Hayes on the ropes,
10:53 both guys showing signs of fatigue and why not?
10:56 Philip Holliday, experienced referee,
11:00 getting between the two men.
11:02 - Just looking at Hayes' record,
11:05 he actually fought a year to the day,
11:08 is when he fought Dan Hill last.
11:10 A year to the day today, so there you go.
11:12 So he's been a year out of the ring.
11:14 So he too has a little bit of ring rust as well.
11:18 (crowd chattering)
11:21 - Left hand is coming out from Michael Ravetti,
11:25 but just not with the zip required.
11:30 You heard the 10 second warning bell go off,
11:32 and there is the bell to finish round number three.
11:37 Big night of fights.
11:38 Ricky Silver is up next,
11:41 then Lachlan Nantes and Justin Rana.
11:43 Then the first of four title fights tonight,
11:46 wherever you are watching live on YouTube around Australia
11:49 on the Ace Boxing Promotion site.
11:51 Hope you've had a cracking Saturday.
11:56 The perfect way to spend a Saturday night with us.
11:59 You do the relaxing, we'll do the work.
12:01 - See Steven G in the corner,
12:13 very experienced corner there in Hayes' area.
12:15 He's obviously had a lot of great sparring.
12:18 People like Jacob NG, son in the corner as well.
12:20 He would have done plenty of rounds with him this prep.
12:22 So yeah, very, very gym to come out of.
12:26 And showing his experience here tonight.
12:28 - Bunking one hand before coming your way.
12:36 Michael Ravetti, Hayes are out.
12:44 - Tempo lift.
12:45 - It needs to be.
12:47 Obviously these rounds are slipping away from him.
12:49 It's already the fourth round,
12:50 it's only the fifth round of this one.
12:52 So I think Mike has to start throwing portion to the wind
12:55 and that's what he's doing here.
12:56 He's starting a lot faster this round.
12:58 I think he has more success when he starts with the body.
13:01 He starts with the body, finishes with the head.
13:03 He is the shorter nugget of your fighter.
13:04 So if he can get in close and throw those body shots,
13:07 he's quite powerful.
13:13 - A little warning there from Micah, from our referee.
13:18 - We see it once again, starting to the body,
13:20 finishing to the head, having success there, Micah Ravetti.
13:23 - Using his years of experience here
13:28 to try and find a way to just to change things up a little.
13:32 - And it's unorthodox too.
13:34 You didn't usually, from a distance,
13:35 you don't start with a body shot,
13:37 but he's getting away with it here
13:38 because obviously Hayes is,
13:40 even though he's a very mature performance tonight,
13:43 he's not experienced.
13:44 - Nah, he's still inexperienced.
13:45 - So he's still getting away with it
13:46 and while he's getting away with it,
13:48 he's doing it, Micah Ravetti,
13:49 as he starts to pour on the pressure here.
13:51 - Break!
14:03 - Stay back, stay back.
14:05 - Set!
14:07 - Watch your head, you're coming too low.
14:09 Watch your head, okay?
14:11 Go.
14:12 - That's it.
14:13 Watch your head, Hayes.
14:15 - Getting tangled up, sintering.
14:18 See the signs of fatigue.
14:20 - Yeah, definitely.
14:20 You can see the mouth very wide open on Micah.
14:23 Oh, two good shots there from Hayes,
14:26 catching him on the way in.
14:27 That was good, really good shots.
14:30 - Stay back, stay back, stay back.
14:31 - Box.
14:32 - Yeah, wow, very wide mouth right now is Micah Ravetti
14:37 as he's starting to suck in the big ones.
14:39 He's starting to show his age here,
14:41 but he's done a great job so far,
14:43 still in this contest, for sure.
14:45 Oh!
14:47 - That's gonna hurt the body shot.
14:49 - That's not gonna help his cause for sure.
14:51 Cracking body shot there from Hayes Luria.
14:54 - Micah marching forward, such determination and bravery.
14:59 He's being outclassed.
15:02 - Go low, go low, go low.
15:04 Stop!
15:06 - That was a little exhausted,
15:10 a little exhausted as playing it down.
15:13 Wild swing from Ravetti.
15:18 - Just saw then, Hayes, obviously this would come with time,
15:25 but he missed to the body,
15:26 but when he missed to the body,
15:28 he should have finished to the head to protect himself,
15:30 but he didn't do so.
15:31 But you can see this exchange in the corner,
15:33 both boys going out.
15:37 In this last few seconds, always put it on.
15:42 They both turn it on.
15:44 They try and steal the round from the judges.
15:46 The last few seconds of every round,
15:48 as we can see some replays here of that fourth round.
15:51 It was a very active one again for both boys.
15:55 Hayes probably had the better shots.
15:58 Once again, just winning these rounds,
16:01 ever so slightly, but just doing enough
16:03 to see a good body shot there from Hayes.
16:05 Could have finished to the head there.
16:06 That's when I was calling it.
16:08 And a very unorthodox right uppercut there
16:14 from Hayes scoring.
16:15 - Here we go.
16:32 This is the fifth and final round.
16:35 The man, Micah Ravetti and the black Hayes Ria.
16:40 In the white, Hayes' fight to lose here.
16:44 You would assume our three ringside judges
16:47 that will be called into action
16:48 are Rodney Marsh, Phil Gregory and Paul Williams.
16:52 Has the veteran Micah "Mad Dog" Ravetti got something?
16:58 Has he got anything left for a much younger
17:03 rising star in Hayes Ria?
17:04 (crowd shouting)
17:07 - Yeah, throwing caution to the wind now.
17:10 That looping overhand right,
17:11 but missing that time Micah Ravetti.
17:13 Hayes comes back with his own counter.
17:16 Oh, two good shots there from Ravetti.
17:19 Just got to drop here, Ravetti.
17:25 He's just getting, he's getting marched backwards.
17:27 He's going to drop in his stance
17:29 and stop that marching backwards
17:31 and try and put him on the back foot.
17:33 (crowd shouting)
17:36 Steady, just drives forward.
17:40 Lowers the center of gravity and drives forward.
17:42 One down, two remain in the final round.
17:46 Up next, Ricky Silva,
17:50 Quinton Perry will be in the cruiserweight division.
18:00 - He's had a busy start to his night, hasn't he?
18:03 Philip Hollenbeck.
18:04 - He has, he has.
18:04 Both boys getting tangled up a little bit too much,
18:08 but that's probably fatigue more than anything.
18:10 Ravetti tries to stake his claim one last time
18:17 in this final minute and 20 seconds of this fight
18:21 as he pours the pressure on.
18:23 Ravetti doing a good job of backing up his opponent,
18:27 but not really scoring effective shots
18:29 because Curie is able to smother him well.
18:33 - 60 seconds remaining and still on the front foot
18:39 is the old fella, Micah Ravetti.
18:43 - He's earned his paycheck tonight, that's for sure.
18:45 - Yeah, hasn't he?
18:46 And despite being exhausted and out-enthused,
18:51 not out-enthused, he's just up against a much younger man
18:57 with all the bounce of enthusiasm.
19:00 He's kept coming forward,
19:03 kept bringing the fight, if you want to term it like that.
19:09 30 seconds remain in our opener.
19:11 - He's scored with a good shot too, a good uppercut.
19:15 That's a shot to find when someone's pouring in
19:17 with the pressure, you just throw that uppercut
19:19 because they fall into it themselves
19:20 and he did that here.
19:27 - Five, six, seven shots there from Curie.
19:29 He's really opened up this last little stanza.
19:32 What a great fight to kick us off.
19:35 - What a great fight, what a great finish to the fight.
19:38 The boy's having a red hot crack, red hot crack.
19:43 What a great finish.
19:46 Hey, it's a real Micah Ravetti, throwing down.
19:53 - As you can see, the work rate from both boys
19:56 in that last round, it shows you how much
19:59 this fight's mean to both boys.
20:00 Throwing plenty of leather, both exhausted,
20:05 both completely buggered.
20:08 But the punches didn't stop.
20:11 I guess that's a testament to their training camp.
20:15 Both boys very fit because you couldn't do that,
20:18 or you couldn't throw that many punches
20:20 if you hadn't done the work in the gym.
20:22 So you're gonna tip your hat to both boys.
20:24 - There was, Nate, a lot of punches within the fight.
20:28 Not massively high percentages of punches thrown,
20:33 the punches scored, but a lot of punches thrown.
20:36 There wasn't any lulls and they both had a big, big crack.
20:41 To our sponsors, we say thank you after fight number one.
20:45 Sean Buckley from Ultratune, Ryan Howard from Pro-Ed Civil,
20:50 Ronnie Wanless from Action Metal Recyclers
20:52 and Wanless Waste Management,
20:54 Chris and Dan Hanay from the legends that are Hanay Lawyers,
20:58 and the great man, Glenn Hosking from Oxworks.
21:01 Also like to thank James Stewart from Bill Chaser,
21:05 Tommy Egan, Brian Carmody and Ryan Hunter
21:10 from Avia Homes, Madison Sport and Zoo Creative,
21:13 all wonderful parts of the Ace Boxing Group
21:16 and the promotional team that has set the standard.
21:21 Fight number one down.
21:24 And we're suggesting, hey, Zaria,
21:31 it should be hey, Zaria,
21:34 but you can never say with certainty.
21:38 That is the world of combat sport, the world of boxing.
21:41 We've been stunned, we've been shocked,
21:44 we've been floored before.
21:46 (crowd chatter)
21:49 - Let's go centering to James.
21:52 - All right, ladies and gentlemen,
21:58 we'll get set to make this one official.
22:00 Fight number one on our card here tonight.
22:03 Put your hands together for both fighters.
22:05 What a way to kick us off, ladies and gentlemen.
22:07 (crowd cheering)
22:10 We'll go to the judges' school cards
22:13 after five rounds of action.
22:14 Judge Rodney Marsh scores the bout 49 to 46.
22:18 Judge Phil Gregory scores the contest 48, 47.
22:21 And Judge Paul Williams judges the contest 49 to 46.
22:24 All to your winner by unanimous decision,
22:26 and it goes to the red corner,
22:29 Ayes Zaria!
22:30 (crowd cheering)
22:35 Ayes Zaria from Matrix Boxing,
22:40 making it three and one from four fights good win
