00:00 The President urgently certified the proposed law that will make the punishment heavier for smuggling, hoarding and manipulation of agricultural products.
00:11 Ivan Mayrina was the one who pointed out.
00:13 After ordering raids on rice warehouses amid smuggling, hoarding and manipulation of prices,
00:22 President Bongbong Marcos wants the punishment to be heavier for those behind him.
00:26 He certified the Senate Bill 2432 or Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act as urgent so that it can be quickly sabotaged.
00:34 Under the bill, economic sabotage will include the violation of the artificial shortage,
00:39 the push of imports, manipulation of prices and supply, avoidance of payment of taxes,
00:45 the use of illegal means to gain profits, and the entry of contractors into competition that is being conducted by the public.
00:53 This includes the use of forceful punishment, life imprisonment, and the fine of three times the value of the smuggled product.
01:02 If there is an official government, there will be additional punishment of perpetual disqualification from the government,
01:08 the loss of voting rights and the election, and the loss of all benefits.
01:13 The industry of agriculture or rice is happy that the bill is being passed quickly against smuggling.
01:20 Smugglers and hoarders are continuing their operations because in seven years,
01:25 170 cases of agricultural smuggling were filed, but 70 percent were trashed and only seven cases were settled.
