00:00 "Bataha" is a film we made together with the director, Michał Gazda.
00:09 We've been working together for a few years now,
00:13 because we met for the first time in the series "Odwróceni"
00:16 which is about the mafia in Warsaw in the 90s.
00:23 It was our first meeting, I don't remember exactly, but we met in 2007.
00:30 Then we met at "Batasha" where Michał Gazda, as the first director,
00:35 was formatting our series.
00:37 Then we made a series for Netflix based on "Kobe" – "Zachowaj spokój".
00:45 And now we met at "Znachorze".
00:48 For all of us it was a surprise that such a proposal was put on the table.
00:53 But when it was already on the table and we read the new version of the script,
01:00 we probably had no doubt that each of us would like to face it and that it was worth doing.
01:05 It was worth making a new adaptation of the story to Łęga Mostowicz after 40 years.
01:10 It was worth saying it with a fresh look, as if 40 years of cinema had gone forward.
01:17 Our sensitivity had gone forward.
01:20 We are a slightly different society now.
01:24 I think that every classic, such as "Evergreen" or "Znachor",
01:30 is worth discovering and telling each generation in its own language.
01:38 I think that our version is the third, but not the last.
01:42 I only have hope that it is such a universal story,
01:48 so close to a person, a family story, a story of love, loss, longing,
01:58 a story about people who are noble, selfless,
02:02 that it will be understood by all geographical dimensions
02:07 and will move people from all cultures.
02:11 I hope so, because there is potential for it.
02:14 We will see what the response will be soon.
