00:00 Philhealth Online's services were lost after hacking their system.
00:06 The group behind this is Medusa Ransomware,
00:09 which is asking for a huge amount in exchange for not releasing information of Philhealth members.
00:15 We have first news with Katrina Sor.
00:17 Since this Friday, Philhealth's systems were temporarily shut down.
00:25 According to them, there was a problem with the information security incident.
00:31 72 stations of Philhealth were affected,
00:34 including the e-claims, membership portal, and their website.
00:39 We stopped all our operations to make sure that the incident was not spread.
00:47 Right now, we are trying to configure all our systems.
00:51 We also have reported this to DICT, to NPC, to the NDI for forensics.
01:00 Some services of Philhealth were also affected,
01:03 like the patients in the hospital.
01:05 Philhealth told the hospital to make a temporary arrangement with the patients,
01:11 even though it was in accordance with the information of Philhealth members.
01:15 Philhealth said,
01:16 "We should not worry and there is no compromise in the personal information of the incident."
01:23 According to tech expert Art Samaniego,
01:25 the content of Medusa blog, created by Medusa Ransomware Group,
01:31 is on 31 pages containing information of Philhealth members.
01:35 Medusa released it to warn Philhealth.
01:38 It is stated in the blog that they will release more information of the members
01:44 if Philhealth will not pay a ransom of US$300,000 to Medusa Ransomware Group.
01:50 Philhealth was also given a 10-day suspension.
01:54 Medusa Ransomware Group is a new group.
01:58 We first saw their presence in 2019.
02:02 This group is very different because they have already attacked many big organizations.
02:08 What they do is, when they enter the system of a company or a government, they encrypt it.
02:15 It means, Samaniego said, the data of the organization they attacked is locked.
02:21 They will only give the decryption key if the company or government they are victimizing will pay.
02:27 That's why they are called Ransomware Group.
02:30 In the memo released by DICT to government agencies,
02:33 it was recommended to re-study the policy related to bring your own device to work from home setup of government employees.
02:41 Here is the first news.
