00:02 The Dallas Cowboys look like the best team in the NFL for
00:05 the first two weeks of this season, and now they don't.
00:09 They do not look the part at all in Sunday's 28 to 16 loss at Arizona at
00:14 State Farm Stadium.
00:15 I'm Mike Fisher, your trustee and trusted reporter.
00:18 A lot of things went wrong in this thing.
00:20 Perhaps the most concerning, Dallas's inability to finish drives,
00:25 which is something that even in last week's blowout win over the Jets
00:30 was a bit of a bugaboo, and here we go again.
00:32 They made it to the red zone five times here, only come away with a touchdown once,
00:37 settled for field goals twice, turned it over on downs once.
00:40 And then most back-breakingly of all,
00:43 Dak Prescott throws a late interception to seal Dallas's fate.
00:48 In terms of total yardage, you can pluck that out as a number saying,
00:52 it wasn't so bad.
00:54 Dallas had 416 total yards, 26 first downs,
00:57 compared to 380 yards and 17 first downs for Arizona.
01:01 But all the yards in the world don't matter if you don't
01:06 really make plays when it really needs to happen.
01:09 Oddly, the Cowboys against this Cardinals team,
01:11 a franchise that is historically not good,
01:14 they've lost six of the last seven meetings with Arizona.
01:19 And so another lesson learned the hard way here.
01:22 Dak Prescott completes 25 of 40 passes for 249 yards,
01:25 one touchdown and the one killer interception.
01:28 He added 24 rushing yards on three carries, but he lost 18 yards on two sacks.
01:33 Not a horrendous game, but not his best.
01:36 And of course, greatly impacted by the fact that three,
01:38 count them three, offensive line starters were unable to play.
01:42 In addition, of course, to the star cornerback Trayvon Diggs going on IR.
01:47 Tony Pollard has an okay day running the ball.
01:50 In fact, on paper, 122 yards on just a handful of carries, terrific.
01:58 Michael Gallup pops up with six catches for 92 yards.
02:02 But Michael Gallup was the standout in that area.
02:05 CeeDee Lamb was controlled to some degree.
02:08 Rico Dowdle had the Cowboys' lone touchdown on the day
02:13 as a receiver out of the backfield.
02:14 And then the Cowboys' vaunted defense,
02:17 which allowed just 10 points over the first two games, looked very mortal here.
02:22 Got pushed around on the ground,
02:24 which is something that isn't supposed to happen anymore.
02:28 That's been an issue for the last few years.
02:31 And now it's an issue again.
02:33 Arizona rushed for 222 yards and 7.4 yards per carry.
02:40 James Conner, Rondell Moore each had rushing touchdowns.
02:44 And then Josh Dobbs couldn't solve him.
02:47 He didn't do that much as a thrower, 17 to 21 for 189 and a touchdown.
02:52 But there's efficiency there, and he needed to be what he needed to be.
02:57 Arizona entered this game as 12-point underdogs.
03:01 This goes down as one of the biggest upsets of this NFL season.
03:05 The Cowboys will try to rebound, but it won't be easy.
03:09 Because this isn't just a fluke.
03:12 This isn't just, don't worry about it.
03:15 There are warts that were exposed here that the Cowboys need to try to soothe and
03:20 solve.
03:21 Ian Frisco, home of the Dallas Cowboys.
03:23 Fish out.
