00:08 From the start, Tindy is sort of pushing up
00:11 against a stereotype that was established in Star Trek.

00:19 Orion females are known for their extreme appetites.

00:27 Before this episode, Star Trek had a complicated history
00:32 with Orion women.
00:33 There was a lot of like, ooh, these bikini ladies are so hot,
00:37 but they're subjugated.
00:38 And then I feel like in the '90s,
00:40 they tried to retcon it and be like,
00:41 but actually, it's the women that are in charge.
00:43 We swear they have pheromones, and they're
00:45 controlling everyone.
00:46 And so it's actually very feminist, you see.
00:48 Captain, you've been operating under a misconception.
00:51 It is the men who are the slaves, not the women.
00:54 And now, in our generation, I feel
00:57 like we're actually going like, let's kind of like,
01:00 unpack some of these things.
01:01 The males appear to be under some sort
01:03 of chemical manipulation, perhaps
01:04 controlled by pheromones.
01:06 Don't vlog that.
01:07 Yeah, Tendi's made it clear that Starfleet
01:08 made those pheromones up.
01:10 I mean, they had to explain why a captain would get taken
01:11 out by some Orion showgirls.
01:14 Huh.
01:15 Basically, Tendi's the mistress of the winter constellations.
01:18 She is a trained pirate and assassin,
01:21 and she's done lots of pirating in her day.
01:23 And she's kind of a badass.
01:25 So what's going to spill first?
01:27 Your mouth or your guts?
01:29 I heard that in the "Hollow" movie.
01:31 What we've seen from her before is she's
01:32 just very low key and very sweet.
01:34 And she never exercises her power over anybody.
01:37 And so in this episode, we see that she actually
01:39 has it in her, which is actually,
01:41 if you think about it, a little pirating of her
01:43 to hide who she really is.
01:44 Tendi, how are you so good at the murder bug drinking game?
01:47 I don't know.
01:48 It's my first time.
01:49 Guess I'm just a natural.
01:51 I mean, we just keep learning how intense of a scary murderer
01:55 Tendi could have been if she didn't just, like, love
01:57 science so much, which is great.

02:04 Who wants to hotwire a stolen ship?

02:11 and they're only adding to what they think is
02:14 going to make the canon better.
02:16 And to have somebody that is sweet as Tendi be adding to it
02:19 and getting to see this whole other side of what
02:22 the Ryans are through her, it's really cool.
