01:59 The House of Representatives passes on final reading a bill seeking to reform the country's
02:04 ballooning pension system for military and uniformed personnel.
02:08 272 lawmakers vote to pass the MUP Pension System Act, with four House members opposing
02:14 the measure while one other abstained from the vote.
02:17 House Bill No. 8969 seeks to address perennial issues concerning the current pension system,
02:22 which has strained government finances over the years.
02:25 But the approved measure is a watered-down version.
02:28 The original proposal sought to include present retirees and active uniformed personnel in
02:33 reforms.
02:34 The approved bill will be transmitted to the Senate, where three similar proposed measures
02:38 are pending at the committee level.
02:42 The Department of Agriculture disagrees with the Department of Finance's proposal to remove
02:46 tariffs on rice imports.
02:48 Concurrent Agriculture Chief President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. sides with the Agriculture Department.
02:53 The Finance Department says the zero-tariff plan will help reduce the price of rice.
02:58 This comes after Marcos' much-contested executive order imposing a price cap on regular and

03:05 During the House plenary debates, Gabriela Rep. Arlene Brosa says the zero-tariff plan
