00:14 I took every opportunity I could on the show
00:16 to call Walker "new guy."
00:18 Khan's got to pay a price to work the Yellowstone.
00:21 Ryan Bingham, who plays Walker,
00:23 is an Oscar-winning musician
00:26 and himself an incredible cowboy
00:28 and an incredibly talented actor.
00:30 He's the real deal. As an actor, he's really growing.
00:32 He knows this world is good or better than anybody.
00:35 Plus, I guess, you know, out of all of it
00:37 is that we could use his music, too.
00:39 His character joining the show for Jimmy
00:42 is, I think, another moment where Jimmy sort of feels part
00:44 of something much larger than himself,
00:46 to see somebody else get the brand.
00:48 It's a family mentality. This is the Montana mob.
00:50 I mean, this is what these guys are, you know?
00:52 And there is a bond between them
00:55 that will last until they're in the ground.
00:58 [Grunts]
01:00 I mean, in Kelsey's head, I was worried
01:02 that Ryan was gonna get actually burned.
01:06 It's really startling for her.
01:08 And because she doesn't understand
01:11 what that brand means...
01:13 Welcome home.
01:15 ...once again, I think, reiterates that she
01:18 is not a part of this family and maybe will never be.
01:22 [Door opens]
01:24 ♪♪
01:27 Did he waive his right to an attorney?
01:28 He requested an attorney.
01:30 And like magic, one appears.
01:31 With Jamie being the family lawyer,
01:33 the business lawyer, he sees Casey as a threat.
01:36 You know, he walks in,
01:37 and Casey's already talking to the cops.
01:39 And it's sort of like, "Shut your mouth,
01:41 and I'm here to save the day if you'll let me."
01:44 Is there any forensic evidence
01:45 that ties my brother to the scene
01:47 other than a ballistics match to your weapon?
01:49 It's a switch of what you think one character's operating by.
01:53 And even we, as the characters,
01:56 are thinking, "Here's where I'm going.
01:57 This is what my strategy -- This is my game plan."
02:00 And now I'm seeing some of it reflected right back at me,
02:02 and that's what Jamie reflected.
02:04 You see where I'm going with this.
02:05 And here comes a lawyer coming in,
02:07 using that very same system,
02:08 and at that very moment, trumping me with it.
02:11 I think we've been worrying about the wrong dud.
02:13 ♪♪
02:18 So, in a way, they're very similar people,
02:20 Beth and Jamie, and I think they know that.
02:22 Kind of like twins.
02:23 They keep getting drawn back to this conflict.
02:26 They have each other, but that also --
02:28 There's resentment built in and anger and mistrust
02:31 and a lot of ugly feelings between the two of them.
02:35 Take three. Sound speed.
02:36 And action.
02:37 Sad. You're sad.
02:39 Wes and I, we get on so well,
02:41 and we actually love doing those scenes with one another.
02:43 And the more fun Beth has and the more uncomfortable he is,
02:47 it's just that's where the scenes
02:49 start to really come alive.
02:50 You read one thing,
02:51 and then you start to actually play it out,
02:52 and it plays a totally different way.
02:55 That make you feel good?
02:57 Yeah. Actually, it was quite liberating.
02:58 I feel like I had a massage.
03:00 We improvised a lot of that scene.
03:01 I realized it was kind of an opportunity
03:03 for Jamie to have some fun with her.
03:05 Why don't you explain the difference to me, Beth?
03:07 Why don't you rivet me with your insight?
03:08 She's making fun of him,
03:10 and they're slapping each other in the car.
03:11 It's one of my favorite dynamics in the show,
03:14 because if there was no love there,
03:15 they wouldn't irritate one another.
03:17 It wouldn't matter.
03:18 Do it.
03:19 [Gunshot]
03:21 By the end of the scene, it's very depressing.
03:23 It's very scary, too.
03:25 It's scary how on edge Beth is
03:27 and how really fragile she actually is.
03:30 If hating me keeps you from hating yourself,
03:34 I'll be there for you.
03:35 That's what family's for.
03:36 There's a weird tenderness in there,
03:38 and only family will do that.
