A slow-moving weather system will trigger days of rain in Florida and Georgia, as onshore winds stir rough surf. AccuWeather forecasters continue to monitor for any tropical trouble over nearby waters.

00:00 Well, it's just a Florida deluge this week as we continue to see round after round of
00:05 thunderstorms.
00:06 We're going to see those daily thunderstorms right through the end of the week, mostly
00:10 during the afternoon and evening hours, along with the flooding rain, which we are concerned
00:15 about.
00:16 There can be spotty damaging wind gusts and also even an isolated tornado or two.
00:21 But really, the story is going to be the flooding, especially the cumulative effect of day after
00:26 day after day of thunderstorms here.
00:28 Finally, drier air arrives, but it won't be until Sunday night and into Monday here.
00:33 Here's the problem.
00:34 We have this stalled boundary.
00:35 Now, winds north of the front coming in from the north, winds south of the front coming
00:41 in from the southwest.
00:42 So you get this convergence of the winds along that boundary.
00:45 And if you have sufficient moisture and sufficient heating, you're going to get showers and
00:49 thunderstorms.
00:50 Well, we certainly have the sufficient moisture.
00:52 Take a look at the satellite picture.
00:54 Look at this avenue of moisture.
00:56 You can track it from the northwest Caribbean all the way across Florida here as we see
01:01 this moisture coming on northbound here.
01:03 And this is tropical moisture, which means showers and thunderstorms are going to have
01:07 a lot of water to work with here as we go through the rest of the afternoon.
01:10 Now, not everybody is going to get a thunderstorm in Florida, but a lot of places will over
01:15 the next couple of days here.
01:17 Watch these thunderstorms and their slow movers as well, which means we're going to see locally
01:21 heavy rain.
01:22 Watch out, Miami.
01:23 Boy, you're going to get hit hard this afternoon.
01:24 Also parts of the Keys, central and north Florida.
01:27 I think your thunderstorms are later this evening and you note again, they're slow moving,
01:31 which means there's going to be some locally heavy rain.
01:34 Thunderstorms diminish a little bit after midnight, but they won't go away altogether
01:38 because of all of that moisture coming in from the north.
01:40 And as we take you right into the weekend, you'll notice pockets of heavy rain across
01:44 the Florida peninsula as we head into the weekend.
