00:10 Temple University Acting President, Joanne A. EPPS died Tuesday shortly after becoming

00:15 ill on stage during a memorial service.

00:18 Officials said, describing her loss as a gut punch and struggling through emotion as they

00:23 recalled her nearly four decades of service.

00:26 EPPS was attending a memorial service at the University for Charles L. Bloxson, a curator

00:31 of a collection of African American artifacts, when she suffered what a doctor speaking at

00:36 a news conference described as a sudden episode.

00:39 The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that EPPS, who was scheduled to speak at the service,

00:45 slumped in her chair shortly after the event began and was carried out in the arms of a

00:49 uniformed officer.

00:51 After the announcer asked if there was a doctor in the house, EPPS was taken to Temple University

00:56 Hospital where she was pronounced dead around 3.15pm Tuesday, the university said.
