  • last year
South London resident Wayne Smith spoke to LondonWorld a month into the ULEZ expansion.

He said he feels sorry “for the youngsters”, due to driving becoming increasingly difficult in the capital, though conceded that “maybe you’ve just got to adapt”.

“Is he (Sadiq Khan) right, is he wrong? I do not know.”

00:00 I feel like you're stuck because every time you move, it's a fine on the cameras, it's a fine parking, it's a fine congestion, it's called fine city but it's not fine.
00:11 You're just too scared to move for your car. So really I'm leaving the car at home and jumping on transport.
00:17 And is there anyone you know in particular who has been impacted by U-Less or are there any sort of like things, anyone you know that's been hit by it?
00:26 Not as yet because it's still young, I think they sent out warning letters didn't they at first.
00:32 Everyone's thinking the same thing but obviously it's too late, nothing's going to get done, you know they're going to start putting the toll on Blackwall Tunnel now, that's another one.
00:43 And they're thinking about doing it on the motorway so it's just build up, build up.
00:48 Still sorry for the youngsters but obviously maybe you've just got to adapt. Is he right, is he wrong? I do not know.
00:56 You know I suppose if everyone had three or four cars to the house, that is pollution. Normally it used to be one car didn't it and that used to be a family car.
01:04 Now everyone swapped over to individual cars and they started putting ramps in front of their houses and that was affecting the rain and the drains because when the rain comes down, it hits the drains, it's full on, floods the drains.
01:16 That driveway with a bit of grass, you soak up the water sort of thing. So it always has a knock on effect, whatever you do.
