00:15 Jamie Dornan has experienced the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to being a
00:20 dad amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
00:23 The Wild Mountain Time actor, 38, opened up on Wednesday's episode of The Tonight Show
00:29 starring Jimmy Fallon about raising his three daughters, Delke, 7, Elva, 4, and Alberta,
00:36 1½, with wife Amelia Warner while quarantining at home.
00:40 "It's been all-encompassing, it's kind of been the agony and the ecstasy in the same
00:45 period of time," said Dornan.
00:49 The Fifty Shades of Grey star went on to tell Fallon, 46, that quarantine has given him
00:54 and his wife some of the most challenging days they've ever had as parents, but also
00:59 some of their most fun days together as a family.
01:02 "Kids are amazing, 'cause they truly live in the moment," he explained.
01:07 "So they're not concerned about what's happening and why the world is the way it is at this
01:12 age.
01:13 You know, they're just, 'This is what we have now let have fun.'
01:17 So that's a great thing to be around."
01:20 Back in May, Dornan revealed he was keeping busy in quarantine by playing dress-up with
01:25 his three girls.
01:26 "Dressing up with my daughters took a turn.
01:30 Meet Jenny, with the blue hair.
01:32 She's sweet," the Robin Hood star wrote at the time alongside a snap of himself wearing
01:37 a red dress, bright blue wig with pigtails and shiny snake print heels.
01:43 Ahead of his daughter Alberta's birth last year, Dornan opened up on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
01:48 about whether or not he and his wife planned to have any more children.
01:52 "Part of me feels like, 'I need [to put a cork in it after this,'" he joked.
01:58 "But then, alternatively, I feel like we'd make really great kids.
02:03 Maybe we'll just, if my wife's willing, do it until we can't do it anymore."
02:08 "It's all up to her.
02:10 I do the fun bit," he quipped.
02:13 Dornan has previously gushed over fatherhood, telling The Sunday Times in 2018 that being
02:18 a dad is "the best."
02:19 "I feel a healthy and lovely duty to provide for my kids, and I really like it.
02:25 It suits me," he told the outlet at the time.
02:28 "Making my kids happy is a good thing for my wife and me to be driven by."
02:33 Jamie Dornan admits he went through a bad stage reading -50 shades of grey reviews.
02:40 The film received generally negative reviews from critics and moviegoers alike upon its
02:44 release.
02:46 Jamie Dornan is getting candid about the reviews he received for his most famous acting
02:51 role.
02:52 While speaking with Variety earlier this week, the 38-year-old actor openly discussed the
02:57 reviews tied to his role in the first film in the 50 Shades of Grey series.
03:02 Though he doesn't typically take part in reading them, Dornan said he couldn't resist back
03:07 in 2015, when the first 50 Shades film was released.
03:11 "I went through a bad stage with 50 Shades of reading a couple of really bad ones, but
03:17 then just finding them funny and letting them drive me," he said of the reviews.
03:22 "One of them was Jamie Dornan has the charisma of Oatmeal, which, some people like Oatmeal,
03:28 so I thought it was kind of harsh."
03:30 "I remember that stuck with me, and I don't entirely disagree with it either," he added.
03:37 Based on a trilogy of books, the film franchise first began half a decade ago with 50 Shades
03:43 of Grey, before it was followed by two sequels, 50 Shades Darker and 50 Shades Freed, which
03:49 were released in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
03:54 In the series of films, Dornan starred as Christian Grey, a young and wealthy businessman
03:59 with a love for all things erotic, alongside Dakota Johnson, who portrayed his love interest,
04:06 Anastasia Steele.
04:07 50 Shades of Grey received generally negative reviews upon its release from critics and
04:13 moviegoers alike.
04:15 On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 25% based on 280 reviews from critics,
04:22 with an average rating of 4.3/10.
04:25 Meanwhile, film audiences gave the movie an average grade of C+ on CinemaScore.
04:32 Dornan has been open about his distaste for the character he portrayed in the past, even
04:36 describing that Christian Grey is not someone he would ever find himself hanging around.
04:42 While promoting the second Shades installment in GQ Australia, Dornan made it clear that
04:47 his pack of friends doesn't include anyone quite like the uptight billionaire he portrayed.
04:53 "He's ... not the sort of bloke I'd get along with," he confessed.
04:57 "All my mates are easy-going and quick to laugh, I wouldn't imagine myself sat in a
05:03 pub with him.
05:04 I don't think he would be my type, when it comes to choosing mates."
05:08 Dornan also previously addressed which part of playing the character he would not miss,
05:13 telling People in 2016, "I won't miss wearing suits, which I had to do.
05:19 I don't feel comfortable in them."
