00:00 Hey, I'm Vanessa Ho and today I'll be reviewing three different dating apps from three regions.
00:05 The first app that I'll be trying is Tantan.
00:07 It's based in China and it's quite similar to the dating apps that we use,
00:11 including Tinder, Bumble, Hinge and CNB.
00:14 So you're just swiping left and right and starting conversations using messages.
00:18 The second app would be Noondate and this is quite interesting because they send you
00:23 recommendations every 12pm and you're picking one best guy out of two different choices and
00:29 you earn points with it as well.
00:31 The third app I'm trying is Goodnight and this is entirely different from what I'm used to.
00:35 You're starting voice chats with people of up to 7 minutes and deciding whether you like
00:38 them or not afterwards and this app was started in Taiwan.
00:41 So this is like my first time spending a lot of time typing in Chinese which I'm so bad at,
00:50 but it's quite interesting to like chat a spark conversation in Chinese.
00:54 It's kind of like tuition for me as well,
00:56 but the entire experience is quite similar to what I'm used to.
00:59 So it was very intuitive.
01:00 I've been speaking to people from like China and some of them are Caucasians,
01:03 they're Koreans, they're Japanese as well.
01:06 So I'm speaking to people like from all parts of the world,
01:07 so the conversations are like really interesting.
01:09 The two fun features that Noondate has would be the daily recommendations and there's literally
01:17 a notification that pops up to say here are today's cuts.
01:20 These are like top picks and at the bottom you can even pick like
01:23 top picks based on personal profile like your MBTI,
01:26 which I thought was like really interesting because I would really want to date someone
01:30 who's like maybe an ENTJ.
01:31 So I thought that was really fun and the most specific filter I've seen in any dating app so far.
01:36 The second one would be like picking one guy out of two because it feels like a game.
01:43 I know that like when you roll reverse this and like guys are picking girls,
01:47 it feels very douchey but when I'm kind of picking like
01:51 between two Korean guys it feels like a game like it's quite fun.
01:54 So unfortunately I don't think I'm the Koreans guys type,
01:57 so I haven't gotten a lot of matches.
01:59 So have you tried Clubhouse before?
02:04 Goodnight is kind of like taking the whole Clubhouse context but in a dating setting
02:09 so you can get randomly matched to someone to start a voice chat of up to seven minutes
02:13 and decide whether you like them or not.
02:15 Based on my voice chats, it's quite awkward because I feel like
02:18 a lot of them could be very introverted and maybe that's why they're using dating apps like this
02:22 and I'm like very extroverted, like starting conversations.
02:26 I don't have the best experience using it because it feels like I'm
02:29 PRing with someone and having to put a lot of effort to keep the conversation going.
02:33 The other frustrating part about Goodnight is that you have to wait in queue to get matched with someone.
02:38 Across three apps, I would say the best conversations I had so far would be on TanTan.
02:45 I feel like people are more open-minded and more friendly there to like spark conversations.
02:51 So I would say that's probably like the best way to probably meet someone and start dating.
02:57 I would say Goodnight is something that feels more like a social media where you can join like live streams
03:02 and have a good time and chatting with people from like all across the world.
03:05 Noonit is pretty much like 99% Korean guys so all you girls and guys if you're going to Korea for a holiday
03:12 and you want to meet some local guy to bring you around, eat with, party with,
03:16 I think you can use it to like check out some of the oppas out there.
