00:00 to major amounts of stress, including breakups.
00:04 But what if you were to cram all those hours
00:06 into just one week, so we could just have
00:09 one week of stress instead of 18 months?
00:12 So, to test this hypothesis, my fiance and I
00:14 have seven days to plan our entire wedding, starting now.
00:18 A portion of this video is sponsored by Google Domains.
00:24 Welcome to the war room.
00:28 We have assembled an amazing team here.
00:31 Our amazing planner, Danielle,
00:32 from Orange Blossom Special Events.
00:35 Garrett, obviously. - Hi.
00:37 - And my parents.
00:39 - Have you done this with clients before?
00:41 - Never in a week.
00:42 Never in a week.
00:43 There's a ton of vendors to hire,
00:45 a ton of details to take care of.
00:47 Our goal is to fast track everything
00:49 so that we can do it all this week.
00:51 - My philosophy on life is that novel experiences
00:55 make our lives feel richer and longer.
00:59 And so I really want our wedding to be that.
01:02 I want it to be this experience
01:04 that people can think back on and remember
01:07 and use it as a source of happiness for them.
01:10 - I'm worried about money.
01:11 - If you haven't heard, weddings are expensive.
01:15 And historically, the lion's share of the budget
01:18 is often dedicated to the venue itself.
01:20 So this was an important detail
01:22 to lock in as early as possible.
01:24 To speed up the process,
01:25 Danielle pulled 30 different venue options,
01:28 which we then narrowed down to one.
01:30 - We're at Cielo Farms today.
01:31 This is a venue in the Malibu Canyons.
01:34 It's an absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking venue.
01:36 I think this would be a great fit for Michelle and Garrett.
01:39 They said they would love to incorporate California
01:41 and outdoors and have this type of feeling.
01:44 I would say the hardest part for me personally is budget.
01:46 And you have to think about everything from the venue,
01:49 the caterer, the staffing, rentals, chairs, tables,
01:52 tabletop, glassware, flatware, plates, napkins,
01:56 florals, photography, videography, transportation,
01:59 valet, the dress, the tuxedo, hair and makeup,
02:02 day of stationary, all of these little details add up.
02:06 - What I'm thinking we're gonna do first
02:08 is just talk about the concept.
02:09 I pulled a bunch of pictures from Cielo Farms.
02:12 You know, let's talk about colors a little bit
02:14 and what we envision.
02:15 - We sort of had this idea to do like a blend
02:19 of California wedding meets Indian wedding.
02:22 We are looking for a lot of natural tones
02:25 when it comes to like the chairs, the table setting
02:29 and whatever with pops of that bright Indian color.
02:32 - I really wanted to incorporate
02:34 the traditional Indian mandap,
02:37 which is a four-legged altar with the legs representing
02:40 the four parents who raised the couple.
02:43 - I mean, this already gives the mandap vibes.
02:46 - Yeah, this is really cool.
02:47 - We could just use that.
02:49 - What do you guys think?
02:49 - It's beautiful.
02:50 - It's beautiful.
02:51 - So let's do this.
02:53 - Amazing.
02:53 - Oh my God, we made a decision.
02:56 - But we were still having trouble visualizing
02:58 some of our ideas.
03:00 And so I built a scale model of our entire wedding venue
03:04 using my Dungeons and Dragons miniatures.
03:07 So let me give you a quick rundown on the game plan.
03:11 Phase one will be a red carpet placed at the entrance.
03:14 It's all about first impressions
03:15 and we want our guests to feel like movie stars
03:18 the moment they arrive.
03:20 My best man will be conducting video interviews
03:22 with each guest as they walk the carpet,
03:24 along with paparazzi taking their photos.
03:28 Phase two will be the ceremony.
03:30 The key feature here being the traditional Indian mandap
03:33 that sits at the end of the aisle.
03:35 It'll be covered in bright, vibrant marigolds,
03:38 which will then hang overhead during our vows.
03:40 - Why am I a goblin?
03:42 It is a literal skull for a hat.
03:45 - It was the only miniature of that height.
03:47 We'll also have a string quartet
03:48 playing all of the music live.
03:51 And once the ceremony concludes,
03:53 we will pull away the hedge wall dividers
03:55 to reveal phase three, dinner and the reception,
03:58 which will include enough tables to seat 120,
04:01 a dance floor and a DJ.
04:04 - And on the way out,
04:05 we'll position a traditional Pittsburgh cookie table
04:08 to honor Garrett's side of the family.
04:10 Boy, there sure are a lot of details.
04:13 And if you're planning a wedding,
04:14 you need a clean, convenient place to display said details
04:17 so Aunt Jean isn't texting you about Vinnie parking
04:20 10 minutes before you walk down the aisle.
04:22 And so thank you so much to Google Domains
04:24 for sponsoring this portion of the video.
04:26 We used Google Domains to secure the custom URL,
04:28 michelleandgarrett.com,
04:30 which we then connected to a Google site
04:32 to display each and every detail about our wedding.
04:35 This gave us a super clean, memorable URL
04:37 that we were able to print directly on our invites
04:40 for guests to easily access.
04:42 It's super easy to get started,
04:44 even if you don't have a website
04:45 and easy to transfer in if you do.
04:47 It's secure and requires absolutely no coding.
04:50 You can try Google Domains today for your own website
04:52 and you can even use my wedding template.
04:55 Head on over to domains.google/michelle to get 20% off.
04:58 And thank you again so much to Google Domains
05:00 for sponsoring this portion of the video.
05:02 And so to make our vision a reality
05:04 under the time constraint,
05:05 Danielle planned for us to meet every single vendor
05:08 back to back to back,
05:09 starting with Premier Party Rents,
05:11 which will be providing everything from the tables
05:14 to the linens, to even the minute details like the chairs.
05:18 - So here's three really standard,
05:20 great different chair options.
05:22 These, which are your wood folding chairs.
05:23 This is gonna be the basic cost,
05:25 slightly elevated from that are gonna be the Shibari chairs.
05:28 And then you have your Vineyard cross back chairs.
05:30 So this is gonna be your more upgraded option.
05:33 - So on my secret Pinterest that I do have.
05:37 - You have a secret Pinterest?
05:38 - I do, these are the ones that ended up popping up
05:41 just saying, I just wanna throw that out there.
05:43 - I'm completely neutral on chairs.
05:46 - Chairs are important.
05:48 - You and your damn chair.
05:49 - Will you ever remember a good chair at a wedding?
05:51 No, that's true, I agree.
05:54 However, you will never forget a bad chair.
05:58 Think about that.
06:00 We are torn as a family between the folding chairs
06:07 and the Vineyard cross back chairs.
06:09 - We can't move on until we settle the chair debate.
06:13 - So let's peek at all the chairs.
06:15 And then I say, we pull out your top three contenders
06:17 and you guys try them out and you know,
06:19 take a seat, see what you think.
06:22 - I'm in favor of the folding chair due to budget.
06:26 But I think a folding chair is sensible.
06:28 And why not use that extra budget to go elsewhere?
06:32 A nicer table, a nicer anything else
06:35 from Premier Party Rents.
06:37 That is my argument and I'm sticking to it.
06:40 Budget first.
06:42 Garrett, you may proceed.
06:43 - Okay.
06:44 We've got the Vineyard cross back.
06:49 My argument, better chair.
06:51 I rest my case.
06:53 (laughing)
06:55 - Here we go.
06:56 We're trying the folding chair.
06:58 My personal choice without having tried it yet.
07:00 I think it's just fine.
07:05 - Yeah, it's fine.
07:06 Let's hear you guys.
07:07 - I have a little heart for my father.
07:13 He could use more cushion.
07:15 - Okay.
07:16 All right, now it's time for the Vineyard cross back.
07:19 I'm so mad at you right now.
07:23 This is a great chair.
07:25 (laughing)
07:26 - See now this is luxury.
07:28 This is like a nice car.
07:30 - They're higher up.
07:35 I kind of like that lift, that extra lift.
07:39 And the cushion is a good cushion.
07:42 And the rounded back, you know, you have more room.
07:46 - On the chair debate, I think comfort is important.
07:49 And unfortunately the cost is apparently significant.
07:53 I don't know the details,
07:54 but I think you have to go with comfort on that.
07:57 And the comfort level was significantly different
08:00 between the two.
08:00 - I'm not against the folding chairs.
08:02 - I'm keeping the folding chairs here.
08:03 - They're fine.
08:04 They look nice.
08:05 - It's just that they fold.
08:06 - Yeah.
08:07 - And you could fall.
08:08 And they could get-
08:10 - Who's falling?
08:10 - Oh, prone to hazards, absolutely.
08:12 - Like it's grass, right?
08:13 It's a grass-
08:14 - It is, but it's very well maintained.
08:16 It's more like turf.
08:17 So I don't envision anybody falling out of the chair.
08:21 - We'll go down the line
08:21 and we will give our decision on folding chair
08:25 or Vineyard cross back.
08:27 - I'll go with the Vineyard cross back.
08:30 - Oh, definitely the Vineyard cross back.
08:35 - Yeah.
08:35 - I want to see the budget first.
08:37 (laughing)
08:39 But Vineyard cross back, I think.
08:41 - But with the holy grail of chairs locked in,
08:44 we had to make some budgetary compromises
08:46 on a few other things.
08:47 - Your plated option is gonna be your most cost efficient.
08:50 - Then I say we do that.
08:51 I'm personally fine with the white basic.
08:54 - Basic, silver, silver.
08:56 - That's good.
08:56 - Danielle is a freaking pro.
09:00 She was just so knowledgeable about the industry
09:02 and all of the potential options.
09:04 - Believe it or not, you can put a very cheap,
09:07 foldable, cost efficient table under a linen,
09:10 slap a linen on it,
09:11 and the cost will be significantly less
09:13 than this wood exposed table,
09:14 which you have to maintain more.
09:16 - She was really respectful of our budget
09:19 and never made us feel pressured to spend more
09:23 than we were interested in or willing to.
09:25 - What details are you guys most excited
09:28 to help choose with us?
09:30 - The cake.
09:31 - Good choice.
09:33 - Very good choice.
09:34 - So I'm gonna give you a copy of our full menu,
09:37 just so you can kind of browse it.
09:39 It'll give you a great description of each flavor
09:41 as you try it in case you forget,
09:43 'cause I'm gonna throw a lot at you real fast.
09:45 Cookies and cream cake.
09:46 It's a marble cake with a cookies and cream mousse.
09:49 Chocolate fudge surprise, chocolate mousse,
09:51 chocolate cream ganache with crushed English toffee.
09:54 Boston cream, traditional golden vanilla cake,
09:57 a vanilla bean pastry cream and a chocolate buttercream.
10:00 Snickerdoodle cinnamon sugar cake
10:03 with a cinnamon cream cheese and a candy crunch.
10:06 - Try this guy first.
10:08 - Oh my God, wow.
10:13 - So good, huh?
10:14 - So good.
10:15 This passion fruit one?
10:17 - Coconut. - Coconut passion fruit.
10:18 - Yeah, so that's my coconut passion fruit.
10:20 - That was amazing.
10:22 What are you like, dad, did you try all of them?
10:24 - I've tried all of them.
10:25 The cakes were surprisingly very moist.
10:29 Most wedding cakes, as I remember,
10:31 tend to be a little on the dry side.
10:33 - I knew the cake was going to be pretty important
10:36 to Michelle's dad, so while we were tasting the cake,
10:39 I kept like looking over to him
10:41 and making sure that he was actually enjoying it.
10:43 - My favorite, just out of a personal bias,
10:46 is the Boston cream.
10:48 - How many flavors should we be choosing at the minimum?
10:52 - Two flavors.
10:54 - What about this one?
10:55 - Okay. - I'm willing to let it go.
10:57 For the vineyard cross back chairs.
10:59 - Shut up about these vineyard cross back chairs.
11:02 He's really into the vineyard cross back chairs.
11:04 - Yeah, but they're good chairs.
11:05 If you're gonna fight over something,
11:07 fight over a good chair.
11:08 - We have made our decision.
11:13 We're going to do two flavors.
11:15 One flavor will be Boston cream.
11:17 - Excellent.
11:18 - And the other will be the coconut passion fruit.
11:20 - Okay.
11:21 (Michelle screams)
11:22 There it is.
11:23 - Everyone told us that planning a wedding
11:26 was going to be the most stressful experience,
11:28 but at the same time,
11:29 I was pleasantly surprised with how well it was going.
11:32 - You guys have a fantastic menu.
11:35 First, we have our fresh mashed avocado
11:38 on our house-made grilled crostini.
11:40 This is served with watermelon radish
11:41 and Maldon salt on top.
11:43 - Oh my God, yes.
11:44 - Next up, we have the mini potato
11:46 and pisa mosa style seared cake
11:48 with a tamarind drizzle on top.
11:49 - Very good, wow.
11:50 - So moving into dinner, first we have the salad.
11:54 So we have our baby spinach salad
11:55 with red wine poached pears.
11:57 - I'm being sent to outer space.
11:59 (Michelle laughs)
12:00 I love that.
12:01 - Last but not least today,
12:02 we have the pan seared chicken
12:03 with Thai coconut curry sauce.
12:05 - Literally everything's amazing.
12:06 - You knew exactly what you wanted
12:08 and that made everything go so much better too, so.
12:11 - We are often forced to make a lot of decisions
12:13 under stress for every video that we make.
12:16 I will say there is one new variable
12:17 that we don't normally deal with
12:20 when we're making YouTube videos
12:21 and that is family.
12:23 - Are there decisions we made you don't like?
12:27 - No, but there were decisions that were very hard for me.
12:30 Yeah.
12:31 - Okay, but what decisions did you not like?
12:34 I have to freaking know.
12:37 - It was the food.
12:37 Coming--
12:40 - You didn't like the food?
12:41 - Oh, just coming from Louisiana,
12:43 coming from other weddings that we had.
12:46 Oh, I shouldn't say this.
12:48 While it was a little frustrating
12:49 to hear some negative feedback from my parents,
12:52 I'm actually really glad that they were honest with me
12:55 because it reminded me that when you are planning a wedding,
12:59 honestly paying really inflated rates for stuff,
13:02 that it's okay to give feedback and suggestions
13:06 and this is something that we were actually able
13:09 to carry with us for the rest of the week
13:11 throughout our planning.
13:12 Flowers, yay.
13:13 I just want it to feel like a color explosion.
13:16 Kind of like a groomed mix of classic Indian flowers,
13:21 roses, reds, orange, pinks, no candles.
13:25 - Okay, easy peasy.
13:26 - A marigold in the lantern, I like that.
13:28 - Do we like that?
13:29 Do we like I'm like filling out a little bit?
13:31 I'm pretty positive on this red.
13:32 Are we all agreeing on that?
13:34 Classic white china.
13:35 - I think it looks good on that.
13:37 Would you agree?
13:38 - Yeah, perfectly fine.
13:39 - Great. - Yeah, all brass?
13:40 - All brass. - All brass.
13:41 - Okey doke.
13:42 - There's one very specific detail that I had,
13:46 which was the song Michelle was gonna walk down the aisle to
13:50 and my one worry was that the choice or the idea
13:53 that I had in my head wasn't going to be necessarily
13:55 approved by everyone.
13:58 - All right, we have an amazing opportunity today.
14:02 We're going to get to hear and speak with the ladies
14:06 of Strings by Reiko.
14:07 - It is my dream is to see Michelle walk down the aisle
14:12 to the Avengers theme song.
14:13 Is that something that you guys can do?
14:16 - You got Jim. - You got Jim.
14:17 - Okay, great.
14:18 - Like we can hear it right now?
14:20 - Sure, let's do that.
14:22 - Okay, let's do that.
14:24 (orchestral music)
14:30 (orchestral music)
14:32 (orchestral music)
14:35 (orchestral music)
14:38 (orchestral music)
14:41 (orchestral music)
15:07 - That song does have a emotional impact
15:10 where it has you straighten your shoulders
15:12 and you feel like you're ready to take on the world.
15:16 I think the audience will feel that on the wedding day.
15:18 - I tend to get very emotionally tied to music
15:25 and to me, it kind of pulled the story together.
15:30 I have to say that Garrett captured it so perfectly.
15:35 (orchestral music)
15:38 (cheering)
15:42 - Oh my God.
15:43 - Oh my God.
15:46 It was extraordinarily touching and beautiful.
15:52 Very perfect, very representative of everything
15:56 that I would chalk up to this.
15:58 It's just so...
16:03 (laughing)
16:06 Thank you for approving of this.
16:08 - Of all of the things that we accomplished
16:11 in our week of wedding planning,
16:13 this moment to me was the moment that brought it all together
16:18 and it was the first time that I felt everyone in the room
16:21 was experiencing a shared vision.
16:25 - So by the end of the week,
16:25 I think we accomplished about 90% of the items on our list
16:29 which was actually a lot more
16:31 than I thought we were going to.
16:32 - Do you think we actually made the right decision?
16:34 - I hope so.
16:36 - But there is one thing I still need to make a decision on.
16:39 My dress.
16:42 (upbeat music)
16:44 (upbeat music)
16:47 (upbeat music)
16:50 (upbeat music)
16:52 (upbeat music)
16:56 (upbeat music)
16:58 (whooshing)
