Chemical transmission is the fundamental process by which neurons communicate with each other, forming the intricate language of the nervous system. Neurons, the building blocks of the nervous system, transmit information through specialized connections called synapses.

Neuronal communication relies on the release and reception of chemical messengers called neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters are stored in synaptic vesicles within the transmitting neuron and are released into the synapse upon the arrival of an electrical signal, known as an action potential. The neurotransmitters then bind to specific receptors on the receiving neuron, triggering a response and allowing the transmission of information to occur.
