00:00 I'm here with the Motorola RAZR family for 2023.
00:03 We have the Motorola RAZR and the Motorola RAZR Plus,
00:06 and let's just say they've come a long way in 20 years.
00:09 Let's go take a closer look.
00:11 The first thing you'll notice about the Motorola RAZR Plus
00:21 is this massive 3.6-inch P-OLED external display.
00:25 This is apparently the largest external display
00:28 on any foldable in the market.
00:29 Of course, the biggest impact of the big screen
00:32 is the phone's usability.
00:33 There is a lot you can accomplish
00:34 without ever even opening the phone up.
00:37 So on your RAZR Plus, you can customize these tiles
00:40 for things like your favorite apps,
00:41 your contacts, your calendar.
00:43 There's even a Spotify player.
00:45 There's a weather app.
00:46 There's games you can play.
00:47 There's really so much you can do here.
00:49 Something I already really like about this size display
00:52 is that there's a full QWERTY keyboard
00:54 if you were gonna type out messages,
00:56 and it's actually not so bad.
00:58 This external display with a 144-hertz refresh rate
01:01 also means that if you're not opening the phone as often,
01:04 you could save battery life.
01:05 This has a 3,800-milliampere battery.
01:09 With all this folding and unfolding and tenting,
01:11 there's a lot of functionality granted to the cameras.
01:14 Right away, you can see that there's a dual-view function,
01:17 so I can be taking a photo of my subject.
01:20 They can see what they're doing.
01:21 That's so much fun.
01:22 And if you wave, that'll launch a timer,
01:24 so that's something that you can do
01:25 for having hands-free photos.
01:27 Another new feature that uses that functionality
01:30 kind of is a callback to the Retro Razr.
01:33 We're talking about a photo booth function
01:35 that lets you take four photos together.
01:39 In terms of video,
01:40 night vision and horizon lock are two new features,
01:43 but I'm a fan of this functionality
01:45 that lets you hold the phone
01:47 almost like a camcorder to capture video.
01:49 This provides a more stable hand, in my opinion.
01:53 Hi, Mark.
01:55 Say I'm scrolling on the internal display,
01:58 but I just want to not worry
01:59 about what I'm holding as much.
02:01 TikTok will give me the option to continue.
02:03 That's a continuity feature, so I'm gonna press,
02:05 and now I actually can watch full TikTok videos
02:09 on the external display.
02:11 If you know me, you know I'm very excited about this.
02:13 Kind of like with a smartwatch,
02:16 you can customize the Razr+'s external display
02:19 with a lock screen clock.
02:21 I like Mood Time.
02:22 It's an animated character
02:23 whose actions change throughout the day.
02:26 And if the Razr Edge wasn't enough
02:29 of a fashion statement already,
02:31 check out these colors.
02:32 We have Infinite Black, Glacier Blue, and Viva Magenta,
02:35 which is actually the Pantone color of the year.
02:38 These two colors have glass backs.
02:39 The Viva Magenta has a cool vegan leather back.
02:42 And this color also, I think, demonstrates the hinge,
02:46 which is completely flat.
02:47 It's gapless.
02:48 I can't see you through the display there.
02:51 This measures 15.1 millimeters thick,
02:54 which actually makes it the thinnest foldable clam shell
02:57 on the market.
02:58 Motorola was saying that there's no crease.
03:00 There definitely is a little crease.
03:02 It's not as pronounced as I've seen on some other foldables,
03:05 but at the right angle, you can still catch it.
03:07 It's come a really long way,
03:09 but that doesn't necessarily mean
03:10 that you don't have to be concerned about durability.
03:12 This is Gorilla Glass Victus,
03:14 so that might help against accidental drops,
03:16 but it's rated IP52, which means splash-proof.
03:19 You're not gonna wanna submerge this in water.
03:21 I do have some concerns about the processor.
03:24 It has a previous-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 1,
03:27 which means that you're not getting the latest and greatest
03:30 for a phone of this price.
03:32 If you don't need this much display
03:33 and you're hoping to spend less on a foldable,
03:35 you might wanna pay attention to the Motorola Razr.
03:38 You can see off the bat, it has a smaller external display.
03:41 This means you'll use it for things
03:43 like checking the weather at a glance, seeing the time,
03:45 but you're not gonna be opening up a keyboard
03:47 or playing games.
03:48 There are a few perks with having a smaller display.
03:51 The first is that you get a 4,200 milliampere battery,
03:55 so you could have longer battery life
03:56 compared to the Razr+.
03:59 You also get more room for a camera array,
04:01 so there's a larger camera sensor,
04:04 but this phone won't perform as well in low-light modes.
04:07 Finally, having less display is less costly,
04:11 so the Motorola Razr will cost less than the Razr+.
04:15 The company has not said how much,
04:17 but if I had to guess, I'd say somewhere in the $799 range.
04:21 The Motorola Razr+ is available for pre-order
04:25 starting June 16th for $999.
04:28 Now, we don't have availability
04:30 for the regular Motorola Razr yet,
04:32 but we have heard that it will be meaningfully cheaper
04:34 than other foldables on the market,
04:36 so you'll wanna stay tuned.
04:37 In the meantime, you can check out some more content
04:39 with the new Motorola Razr family for 2023 on social,
04:43 Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok @tomsguide.
04:45 And as always, I'm at Kate Klosage.
04:47 Thanks for watching, I'll catch you next time.
