Following the nationwide implementation of tighter security controls by the banks to protect their customers from fraud, the number of banking scams have dropped by nearly 50% according to Datuk John Chong, chairman of the Industry Task Force to Combat Fraud.

00:00 If you look at the numbers that we have that's been reported to the banks,
00:04 it's like the ones that we do in the banks information,
00:06 if you look at the period of quarter, the last quarter of last year,
00:10 and quarter two of this year,
00:12 you will see a decline in banking scams, especially in malware.
00:17 So overall, from the banking perspective, banking scams has dropped by about 46%, right?
00:22 And malware especially has dropped by about 50 to 51%.
00:27 So that's quite a big drop for us.
00:30 But having said that, I don't think we should be complacent
00:33 because obviously scammers are, like what Tero mentioned, trying to stay ahead.
00:39 So we need to continue this fight, we need to continue to be vigilant,
