When Dirthead Fred and Dirthead Dave revive their off road club they run into a small glitch because they both have sold their baja bugs. They decide to build mini-trucks this time and eventually both end up with 70’s Ford Couriers. But one truck is a lowered mini while the other is a lifted truck causing confusion to the guys. 01:29 Now, I've never owned a Ford Courier.
01:31 I don't really know anything about a Ford Courier.
01:33 But when I found this one, I knew I had to get it because it has a V8 under the hood.

01:41 So, I know it has a 69302 in it because there's actually a sticker on the door that says it's a 69302.
01:48 There's no power brakes.
01:51 There's no power steering.
01:52 There is what's left over the skull of some sort of dead rodent.
01:59 Some sort of cobbled together throttle cable thing here.
02:05 They just stuffed this little engine right in here.
02:08 And it doesn't drive very well, but it does seem to have a lot of power.

02:46 My Ford Courier came with this nasty old sleeping bag,
02:50 which is great to lay on instead of the greasy floor.
02:52 See, Baxter loves it.
02:54 Here's the thing, Ford didn't offer this truck as a four-wheel drive.
02:58 This is somebody's aftermarket four-wheel drive conversion.
03:02 That's why it probably has Bronco parts.
03:04 Someone took these parts from a Bronco and stuffed it in here.
03:07 But what's totally sketchy is that it has lift blocks.
03:10 Lift blocks basically is a block of aluminum, in this case, between the leaf spring and the axle.
03:17 And it lifts the truck to help clear these little 31s.
03:20 But you don't ever want lift blocks in the front end of a truck.
03:24 As the steering goes and the suspension moves,
03:26 if this comes out and you're going down the road, bad news.
03:29 This is not good.
03:31 So we're going to replace the leaf springs with a leaf spring that has more of a lift
03:34 and get rid of the lift block.
03:37 Check out those chrome wagon wheels.
03:44 Now, these tires, they are an Atlas LT radial AW.
03:51 Unfortunately, they're really bald and they gotta go.
03:54 Swing by four-wheel parts, got our tires mounted.
04:01 Grab some recovery gear and go finish up the Courier and go four-wheel.
04:09 I got to hold a BDS suspension.
04:25 These are about as close to the width and length as we need.
04:30 It's a four-inch like CJ7 Jeep leaf spring.
04:35 So we're going to pull the front lift blocks out and put this in the front.
04:39 And then we should be ready to go four-wheeling.
