00:14 - Now that's a station wagon.
00:32 But what is a station wagon?
00:34 Well, a generation ago, it was kind of this sexless,
00:38 neutered, gelded contraption that you had to drive
00:42 as a penalty for having children.
00:44 It was like the least cool thing in the world.
00:46 But that was then.
00:48 These days, if National Lampoon was gonna remake Vacation,
00:51 Christie Brinkley would still drive
00:52 a red mid-engine Ferrari, but Clark Griswold,
00:56 he wouldn't be driving a Country Squire.
00:58 The family truckster would be a Ford Explorer
01:01 or a Honda Odyssey, something like that.
01:03 So then what is a station wagon?
01:06 Well, it sort of occupies this weird no man's land.
01:09 It's really neither fish nor fowl.
01:12 In fact, it's a little bit subversive.
01:14 It's kind of like a custom van from the '70s.
01:16 Like, you know, you wouldn't want your daughter
01:17 dating a dude who drove one of those.
01:20 And you probably wouldn't want your daughter
01:22 going out in one of these.
01:24 This is the Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon.
01:27 And it's arguably the coolest car there is.
01:30 Let's go over the numbers once again,
01:32 because they're so much fun to say.
01:34 You get 556 horsepower out of a supercharged 6.2 liter V8.
01:39 That also makes 551 pound feet of torque.
01:43 The car has three pedals because all of that
01:46 forward velocity goes through a six speed
01:48 manual transmission before it hits the rear wheels.
01:51 And it's a station wagon.
01:53 And this one's black, and it's got black wheels,
01:56 proving once again that evil triumphs over good.
01:59 Or does it?

02:15 This is the D3 Battle Wagon.
02:38 And as you can see, it's white.
02:40 But there are other differences as well.
02:42 It's got a new pulley for the supercharger.
02:44 The intercooler's bigger.
02:45 It's been reflashed.
02:47 It has a different exhaust, and on and on.
02:49 All said and done, there's over $14,000 worth
02:52 of modifications to this car.
02:54 But what does that mean?
02:55 Well, D3 claims it means that it's 675 horsepower
02:59 and 675 pound feet of torque.
03:02 But we know that's a lie.
03:03 How do we know that?
03:04 They left the dyno chart in the glove box.
03:07 Are you ready for this?
03:08 At the rear wheels, it makes 629 horsepower
03:11 and 659 pound feet of torque.
03:14 Those are huge numbers.
03:16 But does it translate to the track?
03:18 Can good triumph over evil?
03:21 Let's find out.

04:41 Okay, let's break this one down.
04:42 Normally, when a rear wheel drive car
04:44 makes over 700 horsepower, traction's a real issue.
04:47 However, instead of sitting and melting its rubber,
04:50 the Battle Wagon's 100 tread wear Toyos simply hooked up,
04:54 beating, as you can see, the Pilot Sport Cup 2s
04:57 on the regular wagon.
04:58 (car engine revving)
05:02 The D3 Battle Wagon's able to hit 60 miles an hour
05:05 in just 3.7 seconds, a fairly resounding
05:08 four tenths of a second faster than the stock Caddy.
05:11 (car engine revving)
05:14 At the end of the pavement, it's really all over,
05:18 with the D3 doing it in 11.9 seconds at 121 miles per hour,
05:23 with the black Caddy wagon behind by 91 feet,
05:27 six tenths of a second, and six miles per hour,
05:29 respectively.
05:30 That's a pretty impressive beat down
05:32 for just 14 grand over sticker.
