00:01 We're out here with the 2012 Camry LE Hybrid,
00:04 the seventh generation Camry.
00:06 If you look at the car, you're going
00:08 to notice that this seventh generation is
00:09 about the same size as its predecessors.
00:11 And in fact, our customers for years
00:13 now have been telling us that they love the size
00:16 and dimensions of the Camry.
00:17 So we're not going to change much there.
00:19 But if you close in on the front,
00:20 you're going to notice new angular styling, what
00:22 we call an under-priority, a broad lower grille there.
00:25 It gives the car a very sporty and aggressive look.
00:28 And as I move back here, you're going
00:29 to see we have 16 and 17 and 18 inch wheel and tire
00:32 packages on the vehicle.
00:33 These are 16s here that come standard on the Camry Hybrid
00:36 LE.
00:37 Moving further along the back, you're
00:38 going to notice that we have a nice high belt line.
00:40 There's some sharp character lines on the car now.
00:43 That rounded look is going away, and we're
00:44 going with a much more angular approach.
00:47 And tucked inside of the side view mirror,
00:49 and also at the back on the taillight bezel,
00:51 are Vortex generators.
00:53 These are F1 technology pieces that we
00:55 got from the racing industry.
00:57 And what these are designed to do
00:58 is to help pull in the airflow around the sides of the car
01:01 at highway speeds and tuck them in close to the vehicle.
01:03 And what that's going to do for you, the Camry driver,
01:06 is make your car feel more stable and more comfortable
01:08 at highway speeds.
01:09 So the handling story does not end with Vortex generators.
01:12 In fact, Camry's chassis has 40 additional agility welds
01:15 on it, which make the chassis more rigid, which
01:18 helps in handling.
01:19 We've revised the suspension geometries
01:21 to also reduce body lift in the corners
01:23 to help keep Camry nice and flat while you're
01:25 cornering out there.
01:27 All Camrys now feature electric power steering, not just
01:30 the hybrids, but all of them now.
01:31 So you've got some great handling and performance
01:33 features there to help keep Camry fun to drive and stable
01:36 out there on the road.
01:38 Up under the hood, things are largely unchanged
01:40 for the Camry gasoline models.
01:42 We're going to continue to offer the 2.5 liter four cylinder
01:45 engine and the 3.5 liter V6 engine.
01:48 And those are both going to be backed by six speed
01:50 automatic transmissions.
01:51 However, we do have some news for you,
01:53 though, on the hybrid Camry.
01:55 Hybrid Camrys are now going to feature the 2.5 liter four
01:57 cylinder engine, which is an increase over the 2.4 liter
02:01 four cylinder engine.
02:02 And what that's going to get the Camry hybrid driver
02:04 is 13 more horsepower and also 30% more fuel economy.
02:09 So that's a double bonus there, both more performance
02:11 and more fuel economy.
02:14 The 2012 Camry is going to offer its owners
02:16 an all new redesigned interior.
02:18 It's going to be bristling with luxury features,
02:20 such as the stitched work dash that
02:22 is very soft to the touch.
02:24 And also its center console, where
02:25 the HVAC controls and the audio systems live.
02:28 That center console is designed to resemble a portable music
02:31 device, such as an iPod, and looks
02:33 very luxurious and very high tech.
02:35 In addition to that, there's tons of information
02:37 for the Camry driver now.
02:38 You have a three gauge instrument cluster
02:40 in front of you.
02:41 It's going to offer you all the usual pertinent information,
02:43 but in addition to that, it's going
02:45 to provide you with your average fuel economy,
02:47 and on some models, even your instantaneous fuel economy.
02:51 For 2012, the Camry is going to have some standout safety
02:54 features, one of which is Toyota's star safety system.
02:58 That includes anti-lock brakes, brake assist,
03:02 electronic brake force distribution,
03:04 traction control, vehicle stability control,
03:06 and Smart Stop technology.
03:08 In addition to that, Camry is going to offer 10 airbags,
03:12 including the driver and front passenger's front airbags
03:14 in the steering wheel and dashboard,
03:17 driver and front passenger's seat side airbags,
03:19 driver and front passenger knee airbags, side curtain airbags,
03:24 and also rear seat outside passenger seat side airbags,
03:28 for a total of 10.
03:31 Camry has always done a great job of allocating space
03:33 for utility, and out back for 2012,
03:36 there's a huge spacious trunk.
03:38 In addition to that, though, the Camry Hybrid
03:40 has had some packaging changes to its high voltage battery
03:43 pack.
03:44 We've moved the cool air intake over to the side of the seat
03:47 and off the package shelf, which allows
03:48 to reshape that battery pack case
03:50 and give you more space in the trunk.
