00:00 Hi, I'm Angus McKenzie on the Porsche stand at the Frankfurt show, and this is the new
00:13 seventh generation Porsche 911.
00:16 The look is familiar and the engine's still a flat six and still out behind the rear axle,
00:20 but this is the most radical 911 in history.
00:24 Porsche says almost 90% of the car's components are either new or redesigned.
00:29 The proportion has been dramatically changed.
00:32 The wheelbase is four inches longer, but the car's overall length has only gone up by 2.2
00:37 inches.
00:38 Why?
00:39 Because Porsche has effectively moved the engine forward in the chassis to improve the
00:44 handling.
00:45 Two versions will be available at launch.
00:47 The base Carrera has a new 3.4 litre flat six that develops 350 horsepower, while this
00:54 Carrera S has a 400 horsepower 3.8 litre boxer engine.
01:00 Two transmissions will be available, an all new seven speed stick, the world's first,
01:05 plus a seven speed TDK automated manual.
01:09 The new 911 will be faster.
01:10 Both cars will hit 60 miles an hour in less than five seconds and reach 180 to 190 miles
01:16 an hour.
01:17 It will also be more fuel efficient too.
01:19 Porsche claims 25 to 28 miles per gallon on the European combined cycle.
01:24 But the thing we want to know is, how does that new chassis handle?
01:28 We'll find out later this year.
