00:12 Personally I like beef tenderloin, but roast beef is much cheaper."
00:19 Marita Loren's new TikTok video will soon be ready for posting.
00:23 The Argentinian social media star has around 900,000 followers, has become an influencer
00:29 by offering tips on how to best get good and affordable meat during an economic crisis.
00:35 "The success surprised me because I wasn't aiming to be an influencer.
00:41 But the video views went through the roof.
00:44 People aren't to blame, and I want to show them the meat that is a bit cheaper, or how
00:49 they can save."
00:52 Marito is striking a chord as Argentinians live through a severe economic crisis.
00:59 Argentina is home to the world's third highest inflation rate.
01:03 Inflation is now above 120 percent.
01:06 Prices are extremely volatile, and keeping track of product costs is challenging.
01:11 People are even worried about whether they can still afford meat.
01:16 "I'm retired, so I feel the pinch.
01:20 Costs are skyrocketing, so of course that affects me.
01:25 Times are very, very tough because we simply don't have good financial policies.
01:34 We're used to eating a lot of meat.
01:36 Without it, I don't even know how to cook."
01:41 Marito Lorenz isn't just giving money-saving tips.
01:45 He also publishes the retail prices, because many of his fellow butchers tend to keep prices
01:50 high for customers even when prices drop.
01:53 "All right, I want you to know the retail price for the mentioned meat types has dropped."
02:02 He tells his followers to be alert while shopping, so they don't get ripped off by butchers.
02:08 It's something he demonstrates jokingly in videos.
02:14 But all of that comes at a cost.
02:17 "Of course there are butchers who follow me, and some don't like me.
02:22 But those who work like I do are pleased because, in the end, we are the ones the customers
02:27 appreciate."
02:30 Marito sees himself as a butcher, friend and helper.
02:34 And his customers trust him mostly because he is providing them tips during an economic
02:39 crisis, making sure that meat continues to be on their plates.
02:43 Bye.
