The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has issued a notice to a seafood stall operator accused of charging a customer an exorbitant price for a family meal in Tepian Tebrau, Johor recently.

00:17 The Ministry's Johor Director, Lilis Haslinda Pranomo, said the notice was issued on Thursday
00:22 evening under Section 12 of the Consumer Protection Act 1999 for misleading pricing and Section
00:29 21 of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 that requires a stall operator to
00:37 provide information for calculation to determine whether or not there was profiteering in the
00:43 incident.
00:45 She added that the trader has been given four days to respond by providing justification
00:50 and detailed information for the Ministry to verify the claim made by the customer.
00:56 Lilis Haslinda also denied that the stall had been ordered to cease operations, adding
01:01 that the Ministry was still investigating.
01:04 On Thursday, the stall owner posted a video on TikTok in which she justified a RM1,260
01:11 bill.
01:12 She listed down every dish ordered by the unhappy customer, stating the weight and price
01:17 for each item.
01:19 She also invited the customer to meet her for further clarification.
